80% of the snowblowers are made by the same company, unless its a John Deere, Toro, or Cub Cadet couple others, they are the same. Get a 10 hp with a 28" to 30" cut MTD, Troy Built, Yard Machine etc. I wouldn't pay more for the big name.

The big names are more dependable and will break down less. Never ran a snowblower, but with other equipment I've used, I've found that to be the case.

I have a 10 hp MTD. Bought it in 1997. Change the oil and spark plug every year, skid plates every other year. We get 75+ inches of snow a year. Save your money Dimer. I own a John Deere and a Toro lawn mower. I do believe that it's better to spend money on a good mower, snow blower? Off brand is just fine.
