Good Morning Fat Boys,
I know Club told us southerners not to whine and
cry about winter weather but, this shit is ridiculous!
We're Snowed, Sleeted and Iced in in OKC. It's so
slick that my 14 year old Blue Heeler slipped and fell
3 times going out the back door then when he got
out to the yard and pissed, he slipped and fell in it!
Good thing I stocked up on beer and cigarettes
before this storm hit yesterday and Thank God for Global Warming!!
I haven't seen club in a while.Any one talk to him?
Same system is heading this direction. No snow or ice here in Atlanta but winter storm warnings are being issued for North Georgia and I'm about 75 miles south of that.If it was just snow I would love to see it here in Atlanta but if its snow and ice they can keep that shit up there

there's prolly a good chance he doesn't have power. There was a wicked ice and wind storm up here in the dakotas and wiped alot of people out of power. Some people have been out of power for about 10 days now...Power poles were being snapped like toothpicks.

Sure hope he gets back soon. It will be summertime before he catches back up on this thread
there's prolly a good chance he doesn't have power. ...HE LIVES IN NORTH DAKOTA FOR GOD SAKE. THEY ONLY HAVE 1 POWER POLE FOR THE ENTIRE STATE. Power poles were being snapped like toothpicks.

Griff, do most people who live in the northern plains states have generators as backup? I know even here in Oklahoma the other day before the ice and snow storm, vendors of generators couldn't keep them stocked. but it's not the general rule that everyone owns a backup generator.

Most people don't have them here either...especially in the towns.
The people that do, are the farmers, and the people in the rural areas...cause if they go without power all hell breaks loose. Waterers freeze up...cows don't get milked...etc...
I actually just started for a place called Pivot Power 3 weeks ago...they sell desiel powered generators...big bastards. A week ago this past friday the phone was ringing off the hook...it was a very busy day. That was the day we were supposed to get blased with snow/ice combo...but it was mostly just rain that fell that day.

do most people have heaters that don't require an electric blower? like big gas room heaters or wood-burning stoves in multiple rooms?

Garth, I can't imagine having to go through several months
of winter, the few blasts of winter we have wear me out!
We don't have a generator but did buy an unvented gas
heater back in 2007 that does provide enough heat to get by.
Gonna get out this afternoon for first time since Wed. night.
TOUCHDOWN FAT BOY!

I actually drove to work in OKC from Shawnee on Thursday morning. I was holed up here at home from Thursday afternoon until last night, except to shovel some snow on my porch and driveway. I wish I'd stayed home last night, too, instead of going to the old FireLake casino south of town.
We had a coupon for two free dinner buffets. Those free buffets ended up costing me $300.
I'm with you, though, Checkers. I don't know how people live in the frozen north. They're heartier people than me.

really a personal preference betweem gas/electric...People do have wood burners, but I would say they use it for more eye appeal than providing actual heat.
Seems like the people that do have wood burners don't have a wood pile...
