Anyone heard from our Okie friends ... Garth or kb ? That was some bad shit there boy!

We were in the basement Sunday night. That Sunday tornado hit just a few miles from where we live. Left for NYC on Monday, then sat glued to our TV and laptop in the hotel to get info Monday evening about the Moore tornado. I felt kind of helpless being thousands of miles away while family and friends were living the tragedy. I had some friends and colleagues who lost their homes in that one. Thankfully, no one I know lost their lives. My son's family lives in SW OK City so the Moore tornado wasn't far from them. That thing was an epic tragedy. We have really good meteorology and early warning systems or the death toll would no doubt have been much higher.

Glad to hear that you and yours were okay ... strong folks in Oklahoma, still show the Pioneer spirit... folks in authority need to do more to keep the kids safe in school.

I'm sure any new schools built will have below-ground spaces. Equipping all the existing schools with safe below-ground areas would be a financial challenge but I'm sure it will be discussed now. Disasters are unfortunately the most powerful impetus for change.

Timing of the storm was unfortunate, too. Tornadic storms usually form later in the afternoon/evening in these parts. This one was that much more costly in human life because the kids were still in school.
