Morning, everyone. I'm leaving later today for a conference in Salt Lake. I have tickets to the Lakers/Jazz game tomorrow night. Anyone think the Jazz can win one at home or at least cover game 3? I'll have to put a little action on the game.
I thought Oklahoma's liquor laws were fucked up. I'm staying at the Marriott City Center in downtown Salt Lake. I go to the bar. "Do you have a membership?"
"No".
"Are you a hotel guest?"
'yes'.
"OK, please fill out this membership".
"OK",
"What would you like?"
"You have Ketel One?"
"Sure do."
"I'll have a dry Ketel martini up."
"I have to warn you that it will be a small martini since it's a one-ounce pour.".
"Is that the law?"
"Yes, no way around it."
"Can I have a double?"
"No, sorry, not possible. Everything is metered."
"How much will a one-oz martini run me?"
"about $9".
"for a one-oz pour?!!!' That's 2/3 of a shot!
gave him the same sign I give the blackjack dealer when I'm going to stand. "I don't blame you.", the bartender says. I don't mind paying $10 or $12 bucks for a martini that has 3 oz of top-shelf vodka.
...but, I can order a 375 ml bottle of vodka from room service, albeit Absolut. How much sense does that make? I did that, cost me $30 + tag, title and tax, but that was for 12.5 oz, so $40/12.5 is not 9. Fuck Joseph Smith and his 42 wives. Mormons are worse than the Baptists...sorry if any of you are Baptists.... or Mormons.
