Va Tech +4.5 (EZ 24-7 Winner!)


-The Hokies a Dog at Home on a Thursday night....I am on it as this is when and where they have historically been solid...One thing, is that many are giving the Tigers to much praise...ie, being the best 1 lost team in America...They are good and talented bunch, no doubt...but we cant forget that there are several 1 lost teams in the land, and one of them is BC, who has beaten them already...Another thing, is that many are abit to premature in writing these Hokies off already....Now, I know that they have struggled early on, especially on offense....but we have to remember that this is what goes on when a team needs to replace a lot of key players from the year before...ie, Vick, RB Imoh...Va Tech has gone through some growing pains early...but they still possess a solid defense and a good running game, their two trademark strengths....In thoses two lossess, they turned the ball over 6 times, and also was guilty of playing undisciplined ball committing 14 penalties for 116 yards....Both of these things are not the norm for the Hokies and surely not under Coach Beamer either....So, I am expecting that they have worked very hard at not repeating them..

Playing at home tonight will definately favor the Hokies as I expect the crowd to be pumped up even more, making it difficult all game long for that Tiger Offense...Another thing that favors the Hokies, is playing on Thursday night...as they have played a lot of these games...so scheduling practices and getting ready for this type of midweek games is not much of a factor for them as it may be for other teams, like Clemson, who must get prepared in a matter of days, not a full week....This is not an easy thing to do...and especially when coming off such a big emotional revenge game they played against G Tech on Saturday...

Clemson does it on the ground....and they do return their WR Stuckey, back from a broken foot....However they do lose key OG in Fry, who is responsible for a lot of the success on the ground...In fact, his dominance has gotten him recognition to Sports Illustrated's mid-season All-American 1st team..and his team leading 62 pancake blocks atest to it as well....In his place will be a junior who will be making his 1st college start...and this is where I see the Hokies defense attacking as well...Lastly, the Tigers will also be without their SR TE Hunter again....Stuckey my be back, but I'm not convinced just yet that he will be in top form tonight...In fact, I am thinking he will be playing in more of a decoy role, to keep Tech's defense alot more honest...preventing them from just simply keying up on Clemson's two headed RB tandem...And, I think Beamer knows this as well..

One last thing to remember here..is that the Hokies defense is their strength...and this team, if you forgot, ended last season as the #1 ranked overall defense in the land...That kind of strength and talent doesnt just change or disappear overnight..

Side Note: Va Tech has the #22 run defense in the land, allowing opponents to gain just 98.6 ypg ...And their secondary, their strength, is ranked #6 in pass defense in the nation, allowing just 144.1 ypg through the air....

Side Note: The loss to BC on last Thursday was just the 2nd time the Hokies lost in their last 13 Thursday night games..

Side Note: Va Tech is 17-3 SU and 13-4 ATS at home between 2003 to 2005 seasons...

Again, I am not yet counting these Hokies out yet...and I am especially not going to fade them at home as an underdog either....This is a program with a lot of heart and who plays with a lot of emotion as well...Sometimes having those two things show up full force can get a team to play above themselves and up for the challenge...Just remember when the favored Miami Hurricanes came in to Blacksburg in 2003 on a roll...They were simply blown out 31-7 by the underdog Hokies (the last time the Hokies were dogs in their house)....Well, I dont see a blownout happening like that one, but I definately do expect both the Hokie's heart and emotions to show up big time tonight.....GO TECH!

As you can see above, I only released 1 of these in CFB, on the season which won, so far...These plays are moreso for the NFL, but with these two CFB games (today and Fri)...I like what lines were created with these two games...add that to the already existing situational adv's both team have, and I like it even more...
