  • Josh Hamilton Agrees to a Contract

He is staying in the AL West. Agreed to a deal with the Angels for $125 million for 5 years. How would you like to face Albert and him, back to back. The way the Dodgers and Angels are spending cash it may be an all L.A. world series.

Not sure with him being a recovering addict if L.A is the best place for him to be.

I would've gone 3/75, but to give this guy 5/125 is very risky.

In general though, are contracts as absurd in any other sport as they are in MLB?

A few that come to mind this offseason:

Victorino 3/39 (I like what Vic did in Philly, but c'mon, $13M/year?)

Grienke 6/147 (WTF? The 2nd highest contract for a pitcher ever?)

                Upton 5/72.5 (awful)

I think the guy has made what, 1 All Star game? If you asked me to name 1 pitcher to win 1 game today, he probably wouldn't be in my Top 20. No way near that money!

I think he's decent, but to give him a contract w/an AAV of nearly $25M/year is absurd.
