No I'm not saying I'm ok with it, but I totally understand it. Take roids get rich, go back to the Domincan. 50 games suspension will never stop it, but I also don't think you can end someone career based on something that could be an accident.

No doubt Raven!!!! 1 year minimum for sure. 50 games isn't getting anyones attention.

He should get an additional 50 games (Minimum) for doing what he did with the website to try and fool the system a 2nd time, after being caught.

It really may be the dumbest thing i have ever seen an athlete do. What an idiot and you know what, the cock sucker should pay the price for it with additional penalties. No doubt in my mind about that. I would love to see a lifetime ban, simply to take a stand and FINALLY give these players something to think about from here on out.

Agreed Wayne. Not saying it WILL happen, but it should, regardless of players union bs, etc. Do ONE thing right in your reign as commish, Mr Selig, and take a stand. The issue to me isnt even as much about the steroids but the cover up. Why not use this as a platform to send a clear message about BOTH of the issues?

What would Roger Goodell do? The penalty would be severe and i want the same treatment here but Bud Selig has no balls and nothing will probably happen.

Corks and steroids are one thing BW. They were doing what Melky and many others did and it was all for the glamour and big contracts. But when you go to the next level of deceit and pay thousands to create deception in trying to cover up the results, that is a new level that stands alone to this point. It has to be stopped somewhere and if it isn't here, what's next?

The steroids is the least of the matter in my poll. It's the BLATANT lie and cover up thrown out there by Cabrera that pisses me off. Pete Rose is banned for a lot less offense imo...

Pete Rose should be in the HOF. I don't care if you put an * next to his name and explain why it's there or whatever but he should be in the Hall and banned from Baseball. Plain & Simple.

Fuckin Hellen Keller would have been a better commish than this fuckin DOPE named BUD!

What is in the water out there in the Bay area?

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Make it two 50-game suspensions in exactly one week -- both starters for contending teams from the Bay Area, both for testosterone.

Former Cy Young Award winner Bartolo Colon of the Oakland Athletics was suspended for 50 games on Wednesday after a positive test, joining San Francisco Giants outfielder Melky Cabrera on the suspended list for the rest of the regular season.

Bartolo Colon's suspension is a tough blow for fantasy owners, but owning A's rookie right-hander Dan Straily could help ease the pain, writes Eric Karabell. Blog

Major League Baseball made the announcement of Colon's penalty a week after All-Star Game MVP Cabrera received his 50-game suspension

"I apologize to the fans, to my teammates and to the Oakland A's," Colon said in a statement released by the players' association. "I accept responsibility for my actions and I will serve my suspension as required by the joint drug program."

He will miss the final 40 games of the regular season and the first 10 games of the postseason if Oakland advances that far. Any remainder of the suspension would be served in a future season, if Colon signs another major league contract.

I don't understand how anyone can defend baseball anymore. Instead of cleaning up the game the players are now simply taking calculated risks. They have no fear of taking PEDs because they are only doing it in their contract years and they know that is they get caught they will only give up a small amount of money and play time without giving up the basically guaranteed contract that they will get if they get caught. Colon will be on someone's roster next year even after sitting out the next 50 games AND if he didn't get caught he will have scored a bigger contract.

Like KB said...Baseball is a fucking joke.
No thrills, frills, spills or write-ups. Just givin ya the winners everyday.

I tell you what after seeing what synthetic testerone did for Cabrera and Colon, if I was a GM of a pennant contender I would take a mediocre pitcher or everyday player and tell them to take the fake testerone around the beginning of August. Hell by the time they got caught the ban wouldn't be in effect until next year. In the meantime you may win a world series. The problem I have is that both the Giants and As are in a close pennant race. I am not saying either team knew about the cheating but how many games did each team win based on what Colon and Cabrera did this year. If I was a team chasing the Giants and As and I lost a wildcard to them by a game or two, I would be really pissed off about it.
