I thought that was crazy too but I think I understand it as if they rule him ineligible then the NCAA has to prove him ineligible or auburn can appeal. So they rolled the dice and the ncaa had nothing but rumors on ESPN on their side. That proved nothing so the NCAA had to say he was eligible cause ESPN ain't a court of law. Alot of bullshit IMO and another hyped up story that blew up in Espn's face

the NCAA is a joke. If there is $$$$ to be made nothing will ever come of any situation til long after the fact. this story is proof of it.

You can bet alot of loopholes will be filled after this year no doubt. Did Cam know his dad was shopping him? Probably but it can't ever be proven. IMO on the field the boy does one hell of a job and thats really all I care about.
disagree. this is simply just a product of knowing the info in advance and the NCAA doesn't want the story and opporunity to cash in go by the waist side. newton knew everything just listen to the kid talk. His old man controlled him and for good reason. To think cam is innocent is foolish. No loopholes need to be filled. Rules just need to be followed plain and simple.

Pretty much sums it up...why throw away millions of dollars simply because a "student-athlete" broke the rules?!?!

This whole story is such f'ing BS. I'm not gonna sit here and pretend a lot of schools don't do this same shit, but if you're dumb enough to get caught, pay the fuck up.

          This article is hilarious:

          http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/03/sp.../03auburn.html

Not hard to figure out why the Big 10 and Pac 10 commissioners are not happy with the ruling. No Big 10 team in the "NC" game and you could hand Oregon the title now if Newton was ruled ineligible.

That is some pretty extreme BS saying that he did not know that his father did that. Whether it was before or after the fact, he had to have known. Don't you think??? I'll bet a million bucks that Reggie Bush probably did not find out about the house until after a deal had been struck. He got fucked and Cam Newton didn't. Conspiracy theory...but if the shit hit the fan it would have fucked the season entirely for the NCAA. This shit got swept under the rug.
