I would do what your conscience says to do.
The only sure thing is that unless the amount is in the thousands, in the long run(which is all that matters), it isn't going to make any difference to his financial well being or for that matter yours whether you tell him about it or not.
To tell you the truth, if I was still using a Local(I have been using Offshores exclusively for 10 years), and your situation faced me, it would depend on the situation.
If I had lost a lot of money to him over a period of time, I probably wouldn't say anything-if I had won a lot, I probably would.
If I was somewhere in between I would have to think about it.
This situation is just a bit different that say finding someone's wallet with identification insde and deciding whether to return it or keep the money-that is a no brainer.

I would call out the mistake and pay the difference.

That is why you are paying the a**hole 10% every week. It is his job to keep the books correct. Not your problem, it is his. This has nothing to do with honesty or conscience. This is a business for him and he needs to do his job correctly. You call him everyday and he gives you a figure, if the figure sounds good to you, move on.

Agree with everything you said Joe except the asshole part!
Locals really have a bad name on this board. They provide a service. As long as they pay and give out correct lines then they aren't assholes in my opinion. If you didn't have locals what would you of done before the Internet websites?

Anyway agreed if he missed it--that is on him.

Upon further review, I like your answer better than mine.

Its his job to make sure he keeps an accurate tally.

He does get 10 % when you lose for his trouble, dont forget that.

Bryce, I love ya brother and I have no issue at all with you being a book at all.

But, you know that we all have to hate someone, and that typically is the book

They do provide a service, but so do crack dealers

                I'm teasing you bro

                    Good point about the 10%.
People can claim they are good friends with their Local.
Perhaps they are, but never forget in a monetary sense at least, he is, has been and will always be your enemy.
And those of you who use Locals, don't forget you are not school teachers(perhaps there are some who are school teachers but you catch my drift), meaning you are not there to correct his mistakes(unless he makes a mistake against you).
When I used to use a local, I had a "friend" many years ago who answered the phone for the guy in charge.
Then without going into details, I learned that since he knew my betting style back then, he would "push" the line on me-that is give me a crappy line and then place the bet with his superior with the right line hoping to get a middle.
If this occurred, it would mean that I would win by the real line but lose with him and thus he would get paid twice-from me and from his boss.
Needless to say after that, he was no longer my friend and shortly after that, I graudated to Offshores.

Exactly my point Savvy. No such thing as a nice Bookie. He is out to take every advantage of you he can. You have to play HIS games that he puts up. You have to play by his lines and rules. On top of that you pay him 10% of your losses. Fvk him if he makes a mistake or 2.

i have a different guy who inflates favorites so much, so i just call him when i want a dog...for instance, the giants were -5 last night, so i called a different guy and got giants -3.5...

last saturday one guy had bama -8, and HE had bama -11 and he said he was still flooded with bama bets...that wasn't even close to the line, but he made it and people played it...

Right on Spark-I was too nice with my first response.
The same prick who I thought was my friend gave me split lines on totals meaning if it fell in middle I lost no matter what eg(47-49 would be tonight's line-under 47 or over 49), made me lay 6/5 on parlays and at shit odds if the parlay won and a ton of other garbage.
If the Local makes a mistake in our favorite, take it and run.
If he discovers later, tell him you already threw away the paper with your bets for the week and the original figure stands.
If he says no, tell him that if he doesn't give you what he told you he would the first time, then threaten to leave and go elsewhere-that will make a lot of folks change their tune in a hurry. lol
ps thank God for Offshores-I don't have to deal with that overall element of scum any more(Bryce excepted).

Most of my guys are set up on email. I copy and paste the lines straight from bookmaker. That way there are no questions as to what was said and what you have it's all in black ink. What I am hearing is unreal. You do not have to cheat to win. I guess there are some real scum locals out there.

I hang out at a club. When someone wants to place a wager I pull the line up straight from my iPad and show it to them. I never get questioned about fkng with the lines. IMO you can't or shouldn't it is not good for business.

But I agree still if the book made the error fk it keep it and move on.

I think you are taking it too personal Bryce

But on the other hand, if you were my book, I'd fuck you in the ass and not say a word either
