Forbes calculated the brand value--the portion of a team's overall value that is derived from its name--of the 147 most lucrative teams in professional baseball, basketball, football, hockey and soccer. To do so, we added up revenues from sponsorships, naming rights, local media, tickets and merchandise that are not attributable to market demographics and league. The top 10 includes teams spread out over two continents and across three sports, including those known the world over as the Bronx Bombers, Red Devils and America's Team.
1. New York Yankees

2. Manchester United
League: English Premier League
Brand Value: $285 million
The team estimates that more than half its 333 million supporters hail from Asia, where the English Premier League is the most widely distributed sports property and Man U is the most popular team.
3. Real Madrid

Brand Value: $240 million
Real's seven year, $1.4 billion TV deal is the largest for a single team in professional sports.
