I keep hearing that San Diego wanted Clay Buchholz and Casey Kelly for Gonzalez. Now with Boston coming out of nowhere to sign Lackey and trying to trade Lowell, i think it may happen. I guess Boston kept balking on giving up those 2 pitchers but it looks to me like they are clearing room to make that deal. I don't see Bay signing here now either and if he doesn't, they will have to get a bat somewhere and i really think it is Gonzalez!

If it's Lee and Brown/Taylor, I think I may be upset.
I bet they didn't give up Lee. Would you be happy then?

The pieces are starting to fall into place on this three-team blockbuster trade involving the M's, Phillies and Blue Jays. Aumont, 20, has a 3.29 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 109/42 K/BB in 106 2/3 career minor league innings. He was selected in the first round by Seattle in 2007. Taylor, 23, boasts a .312/.383/.515 batting line in 1,306 minor league plate appearances.
I can't buy this. Seattle gives up a top prospect for one yr of Cliff Lee?

That would be a good move for them.

Lackey got overpaid IMO...where does 17/yr rank for pitchers?

I would trade Hamels and go with Lee and Halladay and i would extend Lee if possible. Hamels scares me .......

Both. I guess. Boston for sure. The Padres might as well get younger and get more young pitching, they are a mess.

They can't extend both though...only the RS or Stanks could do that.

He basically got Burnett money. They were saying on the radio that Lackey's numbers were similiar to Beckett. They are trying to sign Beckett to an extension too.

I don't know if it gives Boston the best starting 5 in baseball but they have to be up there now in the Top 3

Both the Phillies and Seattle are trying to work out deals with the pitchers for long term. The Phils are trading Lee because they think they can sign Halladay.

I think Lackey was a good signing, if he isn't hurt, didn't he have some elbow problems.

That's BS. Sorry, but i don't believe that. Philly is a top market and they could if they wanted too. The problem is all the money they have tied up in big bats.

Assuming the Mariners get Lee, what a great trade from them. They were heading the wrong direction, but they might have just turned that around. Didn't they sign a free agent already also? I know Bay was considering go there.
