"Not saying this bc I am a Bama homer but it comes down to level of competition for me. Yes Toby Gerhart has a had a great year, but when is the last time anyone played D in the Pac 10?"

Yet you have McCoy in front of Gerhart? You just contradicted yourself.

1542 Yards (#5 in NCAA) 15 TDs (#14 in NCAA)

Looking at these numbers, there is no debate on who should win the Heisman. Personally, I think this is the worst award in sports because it rarely goes to the best player...rather, it goes to the best player on the best team. Please stop with the SEC vs. PAC-10 bullshit. I'm so sick of the SEC talk in regards to EVERYTHING that is supposedly #1 in CFB.

Just curious, how many SEC teams finished in the BCS Top 25 this year?

I'LL GIVE YOU A HINT...THE MOUNTAIN WEST HAS JUST AS MANY.

I just said I would vote based on level of competition.
          SEC > Pac 10
          Big 12 > Pac 10

          - I am not a voter so it is obvioulsy just an opinion. Gerhart had a great year but the Pac 10 plays ZERO defense.

SEC is the best conference in the country...hands down.

That's a silly argument. To look at stats alone w/out any regard to opponent is silly. Last year, based on stats alone, the Heisman should have been between Miquale Lewis and Donald Brown.

By the way, I don't have a problem with Gerhardt winning the Heisman, just pointing out that not putting stats into context is just silly.

As far as that the SEC is the best conference, the facts don't lie. The SEC is the best conference year in and year out. There might be a year here and a year there where there is a better conference, but as a whole the SEC is the conference to beat.

You can look it at by recruiting, you can look at it by National Championships, you can look at by players drafted to the NFL, any way you slice it the SEC is the best conference.

-SEC has won three straight National Championships, and if Texas is as big of a sham as I think they are (Big 12 is terrible this year and their out of conference schedule is a joke), Bama will make it four straight SEC National Champions.

-In the BCS era the SEC has won 5 of the 11 Championships.

-Every year since 2001 the SEC has had the most players drafted to the NFL.

-The SEC has more players on active NFL rosters than any conference.

-SEC teams have played in more bowls than any conference, won more bowl games than any conference, and have the best winning percentage in bowl games of any conference.

-SEC has led the nation in attendance for the the last 11 years. (just throwing that one in to show that its the best not only talent wise, but from a fan persepctive as well)

The SEC is the best conference.

I do think its hard to decide who should win based on stats alone, but I looked up the Rushing Def rankings of teams Bama and Stanford played. Overall, according to the stats, Stanford played teams that were better against the run, and Bama played teams that had a better "total" defense. Toby has played quailty ball this year, and he deserves to be in the conversation. I hope, because I'm a Bama guy, and that I place a future bet on Ingram to win, that he does so... I agree with Ljimmy though: I hate this award.

CJ SPILLER for Heisman...what that guy did on Saturday night was awesome...He can run power plays like the Stanford kid, but has a different gear that almost no one in college can match...he has ran for tds, thrown for tds, returned kicks for tds...he does it all. My vote would be for SPILLER.

Spiller really hurt himself in that rivalry game against South Carolina. He did have a kick off return, but was otherwise a non-factor. What I like about Gerhardt is the consistency.....he had no "off" game.

You are right though, Spiller was the man Saturday night, even though it was against a terrible Georgia Tech defense. As I stated in another thread, my Bulldogs couldn't run out of a wet paper bag all year in the SEC and we rushed for like 350 against Tech. ACC is weak ass conference this year, especially defensively.

I also don't really care either way, but was a little fired up earlier. Hard not to be when your team is on top. Was at Bama for the Fran/Price/Shula years. So pumped to see them kicking ass now.

AMEN! Like you, all this talk of the SEC makes me want to puke. The scheduling is a joke. Most teams play 7 or 8 home games against only 4 road games. The great and powerful Gators might as well schedule a few high school football teams. Their home schedule was a joke. Charleston, Troy, Fl Intl and FSU? Give me a break.

Again, say what you want, but I don't see any evidence you are putting up that there is a better conference. 5 of the 11 BCS Champions are from the SEC. More NFL talent than any conference in football.

You claimed that Gerhart shouldn't win the Heisman because nobody plays D in the Pac-10 correct?

Yet, you voted McCoy ahead of Gerhart so you're saying that teams in the Big 12 play defense and especially pass defense? BWAHAHA

Again, teams ranked in the BCS THIS SEASON:

                            SEC - 3

                            MWC - 3

                            Out-of-Conf Schedules:

Florida - Charleston Southern, Troy, FIU, FSU (Awesome!!!)
Tennesse - Western Kentucky, UCLA, Ohio, Memphis (Wow, great schedule!!!)
Georgia - Okie State, ASU, Tenn Tech, G Tech (pretty tough schedule)
South Carolina - NC St, FAU, SC St, Clemson (seriously?)
Kentucky - Miami (OH), Ville, UL-Monroe, Eastern Kentucky (BWAHAHA, what a f'ing joke)
Vandy - Western Carolina, Rice, Army, G Tech (more awesomeness!!!)

Bama - V Tech, FIU, North Texas, UT-Chattanooga (wow)
LSU - Washington, UL-Lafayette, Tulane, La Tech (that is disgusting)
Ole Miss - Memphis, Southeastern Louisiana, UAB, NAU (another f'ing joke right?)
Arkansas - Missouri St, A&M, EMU, Troy (unreal)
Auburn - La Tech, WVU, Ball St, Furman (WVU is decent, the rest = another joke)
Miss St - Jackson St, G Tech, Houston, Middle Tenn St (not bad)

So basically, 8 out of the 10 SEC teams were given 3 wins to start the season and in some team's cases, 4 wins to start the season...hey, win 2 games in conference and you're bowl eligible!!!

These schedules are a f'ing disgrace. I know, I know, EVERY WEEK IN THE SEC IS TOUGH so the out of conference schedules should be cupcakes.

If the Heisman is really about the BEST Player in CFB than i think we are all wrong. I think Ndamukong Suh of Nebraska should win the award. It never goes to a defensive guy but it should this year. None of those offensive players seem to be the clear favorite and Suh CLEARLY is on defense. The guy is unreal and i think he might also be the best player at the next level. Give it to Suh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
