3-2 pitch to the previous batter nick green was all over the plate according to K-zone, yet called ball 4...i like the sox, but that opportunity was bullshit, and also that hit was lucky...not exactly a stroke job...not very exciting to win like that if you ask me...

I agree that Nick Green should have been called out twice on strikes during his at bat.
Also yes the hit was lucky, but Gonzo got another big one earlier in then game and he is doing quite well in Boston as he did in 2006-hitting around 30 with 4 home runs, some timely hitting and of course his steady feeling-that is why I started the thread when I heard Sox had acquired him.

agree, it was a classic walk off win, but what you suppose to do....gotta take!
Please savage. It took you a fucken month and 2 days before you could post this. Pretty lame that it took 32 days to say it and in reality, Rivera should have easily caught that ball if he had put an ounce of effort in to it and if he had, Gonzo is the dork making the 3rd out. Don't rub one out just yet.

YOU were the one who asked who wanted a .210 hitter, not I.
The fact of the matter is that he has been doing well even before late night and is hitting and playing a lot better than he did in Cincinnati(he is hitting .299);he continues to be solid defensively.
I liked him when he played here in 2006 and stated he was a good pickup and thought he would do better here-you didn't think he was a good pickup.
So far I would say I was more correct than you were.
ps Don't forget the other timely hit he got last night also-bloop or no bloop-he got it in there.
If you want to ask me what i thought was a "Good" pickup, i would say 100% Victor Martinez. I didn't like that one at 1st but i love it now. Fuck Alex Gonzalez!

Martinez was a great pickup, but come on, lets give at least some credit where its due-Gonzo has done a nice job here and has helped to fill a void at an important position.
