We will throw in Manny Delcarmen too for Bullpen help in Texas!
They were kidding on WEEI(or were they?) about bringing in Barry Bonds, stating that even after being out of baseball for a season, he would hit more homeruns than has Ortiz. lol

Vols, don't you think the Braves should be eyeing hitting more than pitching right now? Even with the addition of McLouth, hitting is what they need. And if we are going to make a move for a pitcher, I hope it would be someone better than Penny. He's no stud.
They have the hitters, they just ain't scoring no runs.I think at Turner Field Penny would have a great career in the National Leauge

I'll bet you a million dollars that the Red Sox would LOVE to get out from under that Drew contract!!!
Yeah right-perhaps replace him with Trot Nixon to save some money!

The Braves should ditch Francour and go after Matt Holliday. Try to sign him to an extension too. You might be able to get him cheaper now than you could at the start of the season. He is also a power righty to mix in there with those left handed bats!

I don't know Vols. Braves don't have anybody who can hit the long ball, just a bunch of guys who hit for a nice average. McLouth hopefully can change that a little.

But a rotation of: Lowe, Hanson, Vasquez, Jurjiens, Kawakami, not to mention when Huddy comes back. Even they got another starter, who do you want him to replace, I would say Kawakami, but what happens when Huddy comes back? We'll have six legit starters.

I'd rather they pick up another hitter, as the rotation looks SOLID to me.

But I doubt the A's ditch him so soon.

I think he would be better than Dunn. Dunn makes you too one dimensional from the left side. I know Chipper is a switch hitter but still, you need another right handed hitter. I also heard a few rumors that Oakland is already looking to ditch Holliday. I'm just not sure what you would have to give up to get him. That will be the tough thing.

Do you want to tell me again how much you don't want Texeira?

He would look really good in the Sox lineup and even better OUT of the Yankee lineup!

One other thing, the Braves and A's have a nice history together in trades. They seem to be great dancing partners. We will see!

You bring up a good point Mavs but Penny would be a great addition and Kawakami can move to the bulpen or back to Japan for all I care

I don't know if the A's are ready to ditch him, I don't if we have what they want, even though our farm system is very deep. And I don't know if they can finance Holliday at this point. Agreed, however, he is better than Dunn, much better. Dunn was just an example, the kind of guy who can launch it.

LOL. The guy isn't what they expected at all. He did throw a gem last week (or two weeks ago) though. It was impressive to watch. If Huddy does come back healthy and productive though, our rotation will be SCARY GOOD.

I guess knowing the teams you will be chasing (Mets & Phillies) both have left handed Ace's (Santana & Hamels), it would also make sense to go for a right handed slugger.

I'm guessing the A's would try for Hanson. I don't think the Braves would do that in a million years though!
