Braves eyeing Red Sox's Brad Penny

Sources on espn say Jeff Francour for Brad Penny is a trade both teams are looking into.It makes sense to me.We have Nate Mclouth now to take Francours place and what an addition Penny would be in our rotation.What do you guys think?

IMO this would be a bad trade for the red sox.If they don't bite we need somebody else who will.Francour has got to GO!!!!

I don't like it. Penny's best days are behind him, but maybe its time to get rid of Francuer. I have always been a fan of #7, have his jersey. #7 lacks plate disciple although it has improved. His biggest problem is his long swing which will never let him hit for average.

Penny & Beckett are like 2 peas in a pod. Best, best friends from their Florida days and they are always together. I'm thinking Josh is gonna miss old Penny.

I have ZERO interest in Jeff as a DH or anything else. I guess the Red Sox have been looking at him hard. Not sure why, we have plenty of OF's.

I don't like it. I do like that the Braves are looking to make some major moves, but this isn't it. Like weazel said, Penny's best day are behind him. Francouer isn't at his best right now, but I'd give him a little longer before I ship him off.

Vols, don't you think the Braves should be eyeing hitting more than pitching right now? Even with the addition of McLouth, hitting is what they need. And if we are going to make a move for a pitcher, I hope it would be someone better than Penny. He's no stud.

I always thought he was good player with the Yankees, and that they should have kept him.

It just came to me. I think the Philly SS is Jason Donald. I've never heard of him and i heard he was only batting like .224!

Were missing a speedster at the top of the lineup. Not a big fan of Kelly Johnson. Also need a big powerful bat in the middle of the lineup. Would have been nice to keep Texeria. Hopefully Hanson is the real deal and can become the shutdown ace of the staff. Going to be hard to keep of with the Phillies.

Trade Penny to Texas for Elvis Andrus. Texas needs pitching and they can put Blalock back at 3rd and Young back at SS ........... And we get a nice, young, talented SS!

We will throw in Manny Delcarmen too for Bullpen help in Texas!

Hanson is the real deal IMO. Kid's stuff is incredible.

I think the big bat is more important than the speedster. But you're right, Kelly Johnson is nothing special.

I was telling Mark lemke yesterday, I think the Braves should go after DeRosa, putting him in this lineup along with Chipper, McCann, McLouth and co. could be all the Braves really need.

A power guy like Adam Dunn could be real useful as well. I just don't want to give up Medlen. I know they won't trade Hanson, but I don't want them to give up on Medlen either.
