nONE OF US WILL EVER KNOW IF IT HIT THE RIM. Question remains: Why not review it????????????????????????????
I'll tell you why:
Because if they reviewed it, everyone will tell you that, that was not conclusive evidence. You can say it looks like it "might" have hit the rim. But without a shadow of a doubt, they can't reverse it. So jump ball right???? Howard's on the floor, vs. who? Kendrick Perkins? Sorry but Orlando would have gotten the ball.
I don't gripe about the refs or umps or whoever very often, even when my Mavs lost I wasn't too pissed about that call. IMO, this call was worse. Way worse. Because this time they didn't call it wrong, they called it RIGHT, and then had the gaul to overturn it without even looking at things.
Even as a celts fan I agree 100%.....like i said they reversed it without looking at it again, in my book that's bullshit!

I'm with you but hey, is it really that shocking? Everyone and their grandmother has been bitching about the NBA Refs for months now. TV, Radio, everyone is talking about it. It isn't going to change anytime soon. We either have to accept that the refs are going to suck or stop watching i guess.
full disclosure, I am a born and bred new england/boston fan, so believe me or not. My brother was in the 4th row behind the basket in question and just called on the way out of the Garden asking what the play looked like on TV. I told him it looked to me like net only. He said it may have looked like that, but live there was a sound like the ball grazing the rim - not just net - and he thought that may have been what changed the officials opinion. Anyway - do with this info what you will. I thought the replay showed net only. But he said there was a discernible sound.

I would think there had to be one official that thought he clearly saw it hit the rim for them not to look at a replay (are they even allowed to look at a replay in that spot?)...and, I believe it was the official standing near Van Gundy that overruled the call...perhaps that was the best angle and why VG didn't argue???? I am sure we will find out soon.....
You keep bringing up this Van Gundy point 3J, what did you want him to do? Flip the chairs over?? There was 30 seconds down 1, he couldn't risk a technical. Just asking here, what did you think VG's reaction would be?
Why does this happen time and time again in the NBA ?
We have seen blown calls it the NFL -- But its like 2 times a year
It seems like there is contreversy in every fuking NBA playoff game !!!
Rondo making people bleed no suspension - Howard gets a suspension and Kobe dosent
All these "contriversial" calls always seem to favor the Lakers, Celtics , Cavs etc.
I absolutely agree that Kobe got away with a viscous elbow and should have been suspended. But if the calls seem to always favor the LAL, why have they been outshot at the foul line in 6 of 8 playoff games?

Fair point, but I would expect more of a reaction than a head nod. Call the offials over, ask them to review it...he could have one more than just shake his head. He is an emotional head coach.

Like I said I thought there was slight directional change of the balls path (i don't have tivo), but that call should have been reveiwed to over turn it.

That should CERTAINLY not be the case. And as an avid sports fan this statement (no offense) is appalling. Fans SHOULD NOT have to respect, understand , and accept HORRIBLE officiating, and we, as fans have every right to complain about shit that decides the game.
Especially when they are allowed to look at it again, and decide not to in fear of seeing, what they don't want to see. "Accept it or stop watching" should not be the case. As a fan of basketball, everyone should be upset about this garbage.

I thought it hit rim. That's just my opinion....
Immediately after the ball hit rim and a no touch was originally made, the Celtic player who was right underneath the basket went crazy. I don't think he goes nuts if it just hit net.......And yes I know he a Celtic player. But he was pretty sure about it.
Anyone that bets a lot on the NBA these days should have their head checked. 1 ref already was accused of fixing games a year back, so how can you not think these games won't continue to be fixed.

you can call the fouls early in the games
you can call them when the lakers have a big lead
its the critical calls at critical times of the games that are important - and these "david stern teams" get them all the time
what do i care if the other teams are getting the calls when they are up 20 or down 20
who is getting the calls the last 5 minutes when the game is tight ?
Can someone tell me why it wasn't reviewed?????????????? Still waiting........ What reason is there to NOT review it? What could be gained from NOT reviewing that play?
