This is far fetched and a little off topic, but if were younger and ever fulfilled a life long dream of playing for the Red Sox, and had a no trade clause in my contract, I would refuse to go to any other American League team.
As a diehard, I simply cant' imagine myself trying to make outs or errors against a team I had wildly rooted for all of my life.
I would allow myself to be traded to an NL team however.
If I were indeed traded to an NL team and that team played the Sox in Interleague or in the WS, I would pull a "Manny" and opt out but instead faking an injury, I would tell the truth and claim "mental depression" as the reason for not playing.

Giles is a average player at best now anyhow. if he wants to stay in SD fine. Thats not the decision i'd make but hey if thats good with him so be it.

I don't care if he comes to the Sox or not...but guys (Frank/Savage)...we are talking 2 months and maybe 3 if they make the playoffs and win the Series!!! Refreshing?!?!?!?! He has a club option for next year at $9 million. First, there is no guarantee SD wants him back next year. Second, he could negotiate dropping/reducing the buyout from $3 million to ensure the Sox don't pick it up. Third, he could resign with SD next year as a FA!! IT IS 2-3 MONTHS!!!!

Now, maybe he has family issues or something and if that is the case, then I am out of line. But why would you EVER tunr down an opportunity to play in a town for 2-3 months with an opportunity to win a WS, especially when your career is almost over and you have never won?!?!??!?!

We are talking 2-3 months...not he rest of a long term contract.

I agree with you-I was talking about a more permanent move.

I'm still not totally convinced that the Red Sox actually wanted Giles. They just didn't want him playing for the Rays.

I'm ok with Howard now...I did some extensive research of this team so far this season and K How has actually been one of the better hitters IMO...other guys (Jenkins, Ruiz, etc and and one in particular I won't mention cuz you'll rip on me) are having unstellar seasons.

Oh, c'mon. You can't leave us hanging like that. I'll guess Rollins since he's sucked this year.

Lol, his #s are obviously terrible, but I think last year was an aberation so a season like that for him will never happen again IMO.

The guy I'm referring to is Utley...I know, I know, he is hitting .292 with 28 HRs and 78 RBIs.

Before you jump down my throat, chk these numbers out:

Utley is batting .268 since May 1st
                            Utley is batting .246 w/RISP
                            Utley is batting .211 w/RISP + 2 outs

Say what you want about the HRs and RBIs, but after I thought about it, I would rather have a guy who hits .240 (K How) but hits .320 w/RISP than a guy who hits .292 but hits .246 w/RISP not to mention the brutal .211 w/RISP + 2 outs.

My thoughts were the same as yours. I would guess Rollins but you know what? I knew he was going to say Utley and i was 100% correct. Why? ... because he is LVJimmy!
