Boston gives up the best player, the best prospect and they are the only team to also pay cash (7 Million). Anyone who thinks Boston got the best deal in that is out of their mind. The guys in the NESN Studio are speechless too. They keep saying, "Maybe Boston is getting Grabow or someone else too. They have to be, right?". They said that it must have been alot worse than anyone knew about in that clubhouse to give up Manny and all of that, just to get him off the team.

You think? I think it remains to be seen. With Ellsbury basically being worthless over the past month, he was moved down to 9th the other night with Youk hitting 2nd. If they keep Youk at 2, and Papi stays in the 3, I could see Bay (and his 22 HRs) hitting 4th or 5th pretty easily in that lineup, no?

Papi does not like batting 4th and they will keep him there. The lineup i gave you was the one they said it would be on NESN and it sounds right to me. You can't put Bay 4th with that pressure and say ok, go replace Manny. It won't happen.

Their everyday lineup with Bay in for Manny is weaker and they lost a young, strong arm and young OF...not to mention $7 million.

I would have preferred they hold on to Manny and let him walk at year end...get your draft choices and with the $20 million they save on Manny, go get an OF. But Theo certainly knows more about this than I/we do.....

Pittsburgh got not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 solid prospects for Bay.

The Dodgers give up Laroche and Morris for Manny and they do not have to pay Manny a dime. They also get 2 first round picks when he leaves.

The Pirates and Dodgers were both BIG Winners in this deal and they should both send Boston a thank you card!

You know what is another funny aspect of this deal, is that the Dodgers basically paid Andruw $20 million a year to now be a bench player. Pierre likely moves to center, Kemp in right, and Manny in left. Definitely one of the worst 10 moves in recent baseball history, and it wasn't like it was one that was that difficult to predict.

They made up for the Jones move by getting Manny for FREE!

Agreed...I think that is the lineup. Not as strong as it was yesterday.

I do not think they put that much pressure on Bay and bat him 4th. Let him get his feet wet in Boston before you do that to the kid!

Are the Pirates working for the Yankees ? Seriously how does a team trade Nady & Marte for a package of prospects that dont rate very high. THEN they give up Bay for a kings ransom of top prospects.

It will be interesting to see how Jason Bay responds to the immense pressure he'll face replacing manny in left.
And what the hell are the dodgers going to do with all these outfielders?
