Does anyone own this stock? A or B? I am a WB fan, but after reading his annual report, he is fearful of the insurance exposure with the limited catastrophe's in the last 2 years. He writes it won't continue, so they are exposed. Anyone have thoughts on this stock for the LONG term? Was thinking of a few shares of B as an education investment for child.
Can Barack tell me what a "typical" white person is please?

That's an expensive stock to invest in. He is currently looking for someone to take his place as he's supposed to retire before long. If you do a search there is a place that lists all of the stocks that his company owns.

Expensive is relative though. No different then 100 shares of a 45 dollar stock. I just think the diversification the fund has is tremendous. But the worrisome holding is insurance. He has dodged bullets, and that has paid off. Just wonder how much longer he can do that. I have a long-term horizon though.

He is too smart not to have his successors lined up. From what I've read, he has 4 that he has approved, and upon his leaving, the board will be able to appoint. And most who work for him have come from other successful businesses, so they aren't there for the money.

I think you've answered your own question on whether or not you should buy the stock.

Was asking for other people's thoughts on the stock and the company. I am pretty sure I am buying. And since I would be long, not too concerned about an entry point.

the only thing i've feared with buying this stock, whether it's the A or B is that he's damn old, close to retirement and or medical issues. I can see this bring the stock value down if something is said or linked to his everyday life. He is the most powerful man in the stock market, but i don't think his right hand man who will take over his company will be nearly as powerful. My 2c...

That would be my main concern as well

I agree. But I think he's smart enough to have his ducks lined up, and when they day comes, the dip might be another good buying time. The stocks he owns are the stocks he owns. He doesn't do a lot of trading from my understanding. A set it and forget mindset. But the insurance exposure scares me the most.

                  http://www.stockpickr.com/port/Warren-Buffett/

Check that out and you might get an idea of how much exposure he has to the credit market as I really don't know except for WFC which to me is a solid stock.

couldn't agree with you more monte,

I've said it once and i'll keep on saying it to everyone i know, WFC is a GREAT buy. The company has great managment and they really aren't exposed to the morgage crisis. This company i've been buying for over a month now, and i'm going to keep buying, cuz once the financial instutions get all there debt cleared, i think this one will take off way before the others even sniff a increase in there shares.
