  • FTSE dragged down by Wall St, miners; PartyGaming jumps

    By Friedel Rother

LONDON, July 21 (Reuters) - Britain's leading shares ended lower on Friday, dragged down by Wall Street after a profit warning from computer maker Dell (DELL.O: Quote, Profile, Research) and as miners eased on concerns about slower Chinese growth, although PartyGaming (PRTY.L: Quote, Profile, Research) shares bucked the wider trend.

Shares in the online gambling group jumped nearly 11 percent after it reported a 49 percent increase in second-quarter revenues and on hopes the U.S Department of Justice would not target the entire industry after the arrest of the head of rival firm BETonSPORTS (BSS.L: Quote, Profile, Research) earlier this week on allegations of taking illegal sports bets in the United States.

Traders linked PartyGaming's rise to industry journal eGaming Review, which quoted a Department of Justice spokeswoman saying the department did not intend to go after all U.S.-facing operators.
