CHICAGO CUBS @ ST LOUIS CARDINALS
SAT APRIL 22ND @ 2:15 EST CUBBIES +150
We have 2 top notch starters squaring off, in what could be a pitcher's duel into the 5th or 6th inning, where the bullpen willktake over. At least it has those capabilities if Cubbie Glendon Rusch pitches up to his capabilities. Rusch is in his prime at age 31, and with 9 year's experience falls into the category of crafty veteran. St Louie's Hurler not an imposing 6-6 215 is 1-0 with a 4.15 ERA, and has gone 20+ innings in his first three starts. The Cards have won all three, but he only got credit for the 8 inning performance against the Brewers. Mark was struck by a grounder Easter Sunday, limped around for an inning or two, but continued in his worst outing to date, where he went 5 innings against the Red Legs giving up 10 hits and four runs. At the time of this writing it is unknown of the extent of the injury, but it did bring about a change of rotation and moved him back a day.
Glendon Rusch has a solid 2 to 1 strikeout to walk ratio throughout his career, and this year is no different. He has been touched for more hits than usual, but not like Ponson who is giving up a inflated .312 batting average to the Cards opponents. At the time of this writing the teams were separated by only a half a game in the standings, and both winning at a 67% clip. RED ZONE SPORTS believe the determining factor will be that Chicago is hitting .284 to STL .259 and outscoring them at an average of 4.4 runs/game to the Cards 3.6.
Take the Cubbies + 150 and win on the road Saturday!!
