    RICE OWLS @ HOUSTON COUGARS
    BATTLE FOR THE "BAYOU BUCKET"
    4 PM EST

RED ZONE SPORTS has provided you with some nice upsets, some really strong favorites and little or no surprises with our weekly newsletter picks. Well, why start now, and today's selection is so strong, we would love to make it a must cash for you. We've got one team (Houston) playing for a chance to become bowl eligible, and to revenge last years surprising loss to Rice by a score of 10-7, the lowest total in this series in 31 games. Rice on the other hand is in a "I can't wait for this season to end" mode. The Owls are a hapless 1-9 SU and 3-7 ATS, despite getting some very large numbers week in and week out to play with. Better yet, they are 0-5 ATS as a road dog this season. Their only win has been over an equally poor Tulane team, a win RZ gave out as a three star selection.

The Cougars are playing to get into a bowl, and in the large Conf USA, it is possible seven teams could be eligible for the five bowl spots. Still Houston is 5-4 ATS and 7-3 ATS as a home favorite. The Cougars should be healthy after a week off, and this gave the coaches extra time to harp on the revenge factor. These schools are only five miles apart, and don't think for a moment that in the semester to follow football season that the Houston players didn't run into the Rice players in some of the night spots and get the rub of who is the real football team. Rice is a very small D-I school of only 4,785 students and just 46 thousand alumni.

Trends and angles heavily favor the Cougars as Rice is 1-8 ATS after a loss, 1-9 ATS as a dog on the road and 1-9 ATS when playing on grass. Houston is 22-9 SU in the rivalry, and should post their highest offensive output of the season, as Rice gives up an average of 41.2 points each game. Stick with RED ZONE SPORTS as we give you yet another winning free selection.... Take Houston, lay the points and win,
