N.Y. Jets (2-4) at Atlanta (4-2)
Game Info: 9:00 pm EDT Mon Oct 24, 2005
TV: ABC
Play On: NY Jets +
Keep waiting for this line to move up, and it could close at somewhrere around 10 with a ton of money coming in on Atlanta. How soon we forget!! Atlanta is coming off a dogfight victory, which they probably should have lost, if not for a couple of "chicken ****" penalties called late in the game against New Orleans, at a neutral site in San Antonio. Now you may want to pound the Falcons with all the recent Jet injuries- but Atlanta gave up 456 total yards to the Saints who were missing their only two playmakers - Deuce McAllister and Joe Horn. We think that the Jets and Vinny Testeverde can exploit Atlanta's defense, much like New Orleans. We like taking points with a very physical defense led by linebacker Jonathan Vilma, who will be all over the field Monday night, and will personally make it a long, and painful night for Mike Vick. The Jets are getting back Eric Barton, and even if Ty Law is forced to the sidelines with back spasms- we like a healthy Derrick Straight to fill in finely and stop the less than stellar Falcon recievers- none of which average more than 40 yards per game receiving. The Falcons will be suffering from injuries themselves- they will be missing their pounding running back- TJ Duckett. A speedy Jets defense should be able to chase down Warrick Dunn tonight. No matter who is playing Center for the Jets tonight (Pete Kendall), we like them to have a steady, physical run game against the 28th ranked run defense in the league. With a strong ground attack- Vinny should find some options through the air, and there is no question whether Vinny's arm strenght has depleted- because he can still throw a football just as far as when he came out of Miami, 18 years ago. Take the points tonight in a game where we do not think the points will matter.
