Well, I hate laying juice like this! You won't see this from me very often, but I have to say that this game is sweet!
Florida Marlins -145 for 3 units..
Houston is just a piss poor hitting team, and add that into the mix with Beckett going for the Marlins, it could be trouble for the Astros.. Marlins are battling for the playoffs and are trying to keep a half game lead over the Astros in the Wildcard race.. The Marlins destroyed the Astros last night as Willis pitched a gem, and the Marlins beat up on the Astros #4 starter Brandon Backe.. Today, their will be another star pitcher on the mound, but once again it will be the Marlins pitcher.. With these two teams battling for a playoff spot, I believe you have to go with the better, more experienced pitcher in Beckett.. Beckett is 13-8 with a 3.58 ERA on the year. He has set his career high in Wins this year, and is just Five strikeouts shy of his career best 152 set the past two seasons. Becketts last outing was against the Nationals where he pitched impressively, giving up just two earned runs, while pitching 7 innings, and getting the win. He struck out 7, and walked just 1. To add insult to injury to the Astros, their slugger Morgan Ensberg WILL MOST LIKELY NOT play tonight! Well, the Astros can't hit, their best slugger may not play, and Lance Berkman and Craig Biggio are just a combined 2-24 .140 Batting average against Beckett! So Ensberg may be out, and Beckett owns Berkman and Biggio, and did I mention the Astros can't hit yet? Houston sends Wandy Rodriguez to the mound today, who is 9-7, but an ERA of almost 6!! Rodriguez's ERA at home is 6.54, and opponents are batting .284 against him!! Righties .287, lefties .281. Wandy has struck out 33 batters at home, but has walked 28! Almost as many walks as strikeouts.. In Rodriguez's 104 Innings pitched, he has allowed 159 batters reach.. That is 1.5 batters per inning! Wandy has some control problems, and when he does throw strikes, sometimes it is too centered.. Wandy may be a decent pitcher in the future, but the Marlins will tee off on him tonight!
