I am sorry to have to point this out because OC is a pleasant person with whom to converse.
That being said, I cannot ignore the fact that I receive emails every day from him telling me how well he has been doing with records going back ad infinatem; I also receive a comp. play in the email.
I know for a fact that he went 2-7 yesterday(his plays were posted elsewhere).
Unless I missed something, there was ZERO mention of yesterday's results;INSTEAD there was a big ad stating he had two 5*'s going today.
Is it just a coincidence that these 5*'s happen to be after a big losing day and more importantly could OC simply have "forgot" to mention how he did yesterday?
You be the judge of the what I said.
ps This is NOT the first time he has done this, and he seems to think it is no big deal to mention only his winning days.

However, those stellar performances by Chris Carpenter and Jason Marquis came against an Astros offense that in the past two weeks has gone ice cold. That is NOT the case with the Cubs who are finally getting stellar production from star infielder Nomar Garciaparra who has spent most of the season! on the disabled list. To give you an idea how long Garciaparra has been out, his first homerun of the entire season did not come until the ninth of AUGUST. Garicappara suddendly has HOMERED FOUR TIMES in the past 6 games which has boosted the entire Chicago lineup. The Cubs have ace Mark Prior on the mound today. Like so many others on the team, he spent time on the DL, but Prior has WON 3 of his last 4 decisions. He will go against Matt Morris who did NOT pitch well for the Cardinals in the month of August as opposing batters hit more than .300 at the plate against him. I will leave you with a shocking angle from the database: the lowly Cubs are 12-5 FOR THE SEASON against top-level teams like the Cardinals who have a 62%-or-more winning percentage!! That means the Cubbies get fired up in situations where they are expected to lose.

In case you haven't figured it out yet, the comp. picks the Cubs BUT above the comp. he has a 1 unit play on the Mets and lists the starting pitchers in that game.
Well, I guess if either the Mets or Cubs win or both for that matter, he can say his comp. play won.
Judging by the way in which he hides/doesn't talk about his losing plays on his regular service plays, what I said above regarding his comp. plays would not surprise me one bit!

How can you refer to your record as a "Monster Weekend"(see below) when you go 2-7 on one day and only talk about your winning games with no mention of the games which lost, of which there were plenty?
I used to have a lot more respect for this guy than I have now!

Frank-No I have not. I would rather let others see the way in which he spins his record and only tells about his winning days for the most part.
Before I was on to him a couple fo years ago, I used to believe him;what happened was several years ago i noticed that whenever appeared actual documentation of his record over any period of time, he was always rated mediocre at best.
As stated before, the REAL reason he is termed the spider is because of his continual attempts to spin his record.

You shouldn't let this bother you at all. These guys are all liars and unless it is positive news there is no news in their eyes. I remember when we used to have our little bitch sessions about phil steal. How his motto is "we tell you about the winners and losers" bullsh*t. Well he didnt say a word monday about losing plays on sunday. Seems he had a case of amnesia and forgot that his 4*(ncst) and his opinion cuse lost. I don't let it bother me anymore because I am fading these guys along with most of the other services. I still like to know what side they are on but I have no loyalty to their big plays anymore.



Here is a little bit of information I found out about him.I actually know some people that know him, he live outside of cleveland, and he is running a football pool called "monopoly football" where you get $10k in phoney money and you call and bet and give your pro football plays on his voicemail on friday. It costs $125 to get in and winner takes all. Phil gets $25 for running the league. Talk about being hard up for money. He must then use this info for his late phone plays by fading the majority. This guy is a total joke.

I also enoyed your posts and information about PS of Cleveland. I lost my ass and and about everything else last year believing he could deliver winners. I got behind by loading up on his 5* plays starting with the "Free" September 5* that came with the PS subscription. I knew better but I put more on the next 5* and I think it also lost. Then he would tell us how bad he felt and would "give" another free week of loosers. I thought nobody can be this bad, plus I am paying for this! His "opinion" plays did decent, better than his "Star" plays by far. My friends and I joked about going the opposite but we did not have enough guts to do so (a preminition [sp} of the fades? I found this site toward the end of February and made a little comeback in February with the fades and the great cappers on this site. It is people like I was that keep these people in business. I did get a box of chocolate candy for Christmas from PS. The most expensive candy I have ever had! I am also ashamed to say I was an ATS subscriber a few years ago also but that is another "live and learn" lesson.
The folks on this site are great!!!!!!!!!! I am up for the first time in years after pre-season and the first weekend of college and all this WITHOUT "The Best Documented Pre-Season Service in America!"

Sadly Phil Ste ele, although he obviously puts a lot of work into his PowerSweep, lives under the delusion that although those abstract and meaningless stats. he compiles for each team for the last zillion years actually has something to do with what will transpire on the field in a given game.
PowerSweep is good for a football junkie who wants to know for example about every game played between two teams, the outcome, the number of penalties, fumbles, etc.
That may be fun to know but has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the present game between the two teams;believe me his record would be much better than it is and his newsletter would be rated highest in the predictabily of scores, not mediocre as it presently is.
Phil obviously gets some kind of high out of telling everyone thatb PowerSweep has more information than any other newsletter;as stated, that does NOT translate into picking any more winners than the other publications, which is all that matters for gamblers.

TONIGHT'S "5 UNIT" REDZONE BEST BET (Virginia Tech at North Carolina State on ESPN2): The last time I launched a 5-UNIT move in college football was back on the third day of January when Virginia Tech (+6) stayed close and nearly upset undefeated Auburn in the Sugar Bowl. Even though that was not the designated BCS Championship game, the fact of the matter is that the Hokies were still facing an unbeaten opponent from a power conference in a BCS Bowl affair. Thus Virginia Tech enters this new season with valuable championship experience under their collective belt. This is the same Hokies team that easily covered their opening game one year ago when they stayed close all the way against #1 USC in the BCA Classic. V-Tech gets back speedy Marcus Vick at quarterback tonight after he was suspended for an entire season due to questionable decisions made off the field. The fact of the matter is that some experts feel he is even FASTER than his famous brother Michael. In 2003, Marcus Vick saw limited playing time as a reserve but still put up some impressive numbers both in the air and on the ground (425 passing and 102 rushing yards). While Vick adds mobility on offense, the big news is that the Hokies have a ton of returning DEFENSIVE starters. Very few lineups will have as many players with "big play" potential like the V-Tech defense. One of the reasons why I have personally made big money over the years wagering on the Hokies is because of their stellar play on SPECIAL TEAMS. Head coach Frank Beamer has always been known as a spectacular special teams coach as it seems that V-Tech blocks at least one field per game week in and week out. Virginia Tech has a huge edge in overall BALANCE tonight and they also are playing with REVENGE. Last year the one and only setback suffered in ACC Conference play was at HOME against none other than North Carolina State. This evening on National TV the Hokies attempt to return the favor on the homefield of the Wolfpack. Regular clients know that no matter what the sport, I love to side with teams that are proficient on defense. That area could be a big problem for the host this evening. It was six years ago when NC State head coach Chuck Amato brought a little swagger to this program when he left Florida State. San Diego starts the regular season behind the eight ball so to speak as they will be hurt by the absence of star TE Antonio Gates who is serving the third and final game of his suspension for not signing a contract by the team imposed deadline. In last year's 8 game turnaround, the Chargers won a ton of games because they were able to create turnovers at a ratio that was near the top of the league.
