Everyone loves Top 10 lists. David Letterman's Top 10 List, The Top 10 teams in college football, the Top 10 in the NFL, even the Top 10 football handicappers.

But Today We Have --- THE BOTTOM 10 --- SO STAY AWAY FROM THESE SCAMDICAPPERS & their high pressure salesmen.

So who are the Bottom 10 scamdicappers in the business?




MIKE WARREN SPORTS, BALTIMORE, MD. --- Look up "scamdicapper" in the
dictionary and you'll find Mike Warren's picture. He's the badest of the
bad, the most disrespected and disreputable sports handicapper of them all.
He also couldn't pick a winner if his life depended on it.
He recently scammed an elderly Korean War veteran in Buffalo out of big
bucks by making bogus claims about his touting ability. Before that, Warren
was fined by the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs for deceptive
advertising practices, according to the New York Post.
Warren also bilked people when he ran the now-bankrupt "Psychic Hotline," a telephone service that charged callers to speak to fortune tellers.
Mike Warren isn't even honest about his real name, which is actually
Michael Warren Lasky.




AGAINST THE SPREAD (ATS) CONSULTANTS, BALTIMORE, MD. --- This outfit is
the second-worst tout service in America, almost as bad as Mike Warren
Sports. And guess who runs ATS? Robert Lasky, nephew of Mike (Warren) Lasky.
The complaints about ATS have been numerous, including allegations of credit card fraud, sneaky telemarketing scams and
phone pager bait-and-switch scams and the bilking of a set of Iowa twins out
of nearly $200,000.



JIM HURLEY'S NETWORK, JERICHO, N.Y. --- The third worst tout service out
there. And, to no one's surprise, it's also run by a Lasky, in this case
Brian Lasky, brother of Mike (Warren) Lasky. "Jim Hurley" is Brian's alias
and it's no wonder he uses one.
The "Network" is a typical Lasky con operation that's more interested in
(and talented at) ripping off customers than picking winners. But then again, scamdicapping is the family business if you're the Lasky family.
Brian also employs some of the rudest clerks in the business.



STU FEINER(Your Source), FARMINGDALE, N.Y. --- After the Lasky Boys, Stu Feiner is the biggest scamdicapper around. Sometimes called Mr. Lisp because of his Speech problems. He too has been fined by the New York City
Department of Consumer Affairs for deceptive advertising practices,
according to the New York Post.
He also has the distinction of having run the most annoying scamdicapper
commercials ever seen on television: his shouting about his touting made one
want to shoot the TV screen. HBO did I special last year on how STU FEINER ripped a guy off for $60,000 thru credit cards and Western Union.



KEVIN DUFFY(aka THE LIVING LEGEND), FARMINGDALE, N.Y. --- What is it about the scamdicapping
business that makes it run in families? Kevin has earned the nickname COFFEE CAKES because of his terrible ACNE problem, but what is Worse than his looks are his outrageous claims to HIT 85% of his picks.
But just like Stu, Kevin makes outrageous claims about what little handicapping success he has.
That's why Duffy has also been fined by the New York City Department of
Consumer Affairs for deceptive advertising practices, according to the New
York Post. What specifically did Duffy do to earn the fines? The same thing
Mike Warren and Stu Feiner did: he ran newspaper ads which contained phony claims about his success in picking winners.



JACK PRICE, LOS ANGELES, CALIF. --- Next on our list of the Bottom 10 is
> Jack Price. This guy looks like a Walking GORILLA. A former Price employee told the RGT Wager Watchdog that Price's
picks are often made by flipping a coin.
Price, whose real name is Mark Meghrouni, also used to run Paradise
Casino, an offshore sports book in Curacao that went out of business.
Last year, Price pled guilty in Federal Court to money laundering and tax
evasion charges, paid millions of dollars in fines and back taxes and had a
house and car confiscated, according to the Associated Press. In addition,
Price was sued by former NFL players John Brodie and Deacon Jones for
fraudulent use of the football players' names in connection with a Price tout
service.




DAN PASTORINI, HOUSTON, TEX.--Yes, it's the former Houston Oilers
quarterback, running his own tout service. Last fall, Pastorini had to run
an apology in USA Today, saying he does not use "inside" sources from the
NFL to make picks for his tout service. The NFL had sued Pastorini after he
made such claims in an earlier USA Today ad.



ED HOROWITZ, NEW YORK, N.Y. --- This guy calls himself "The Professor."
According to a story in Sports Illustrated, he is a former cocaine addict
who was once arrested in New York on gambling charges. That's certainly
someone you'd want to trust with your money, no?



****** DEMARCO, ATLANTA, GA. --- The real name of this scamdicapper is
John L. Edens. According to a story in Sports Illustrated, he told people
who called his free 800 line to call his for-a-charge 900 line for picks,
and if the picks lose, there is no charge. That's a lie, however, because
once a 900 number is called, the charge is automatic.
He once claimed to have gotten inside info from a college basketball
coach, but the coach denied speaking to him. He also claimed his tout
service was top-rated by a monitoring service, but declined to reveal he was
associated with the monitoring service.

Professional Handicapping.Net
New info on this guy: Has now opened a service named ATShandicapping.net - another scam operation!

What makes a sports handicapping service a scam operation? Let's look at Professional Handicapping.net as a perfect example of a dishonest sports service. Some traits of a scamdicapper are:

Lies About Their Record
Most scam handicapping services aren't monitored by an honest monitoring service. Professional Handicapping has been monitored since June 8, 2004, by a very good and honest monitor, Trackpicks.com. But that doesn't stop Professional Handicapping lying about their record.

The following is an example taken verbatim from a marketing email sent by Professional Handicapping:
"Also I want you all to know exactly what picks really payoff. Whenever my selections pick a home team at the +1.5 line, ****** the game. Last season these picks won at an 84% clip"

We went to Trackpicks.com and checked Professional Handicapping's claim to see if it was true. Not only was it ridiculously fabricated, he barely even turned a profit on these type of picks.

Their actual record on home team +1.5 lined games was 10 wins, 8 loses, for a net profit of 1 unit. Not even close to hitting 84% as claimed by Professional Handicapping.

Professional Handicapping also brags about their 2004 record at Trackpicks in baseball. It actually is a very good record, 118-64 for +139.95 units. Professional Handicapping fails to mention that prior to being monitored and documented at Trackpicks in 2004, they submitted their baseball picks to the USA Sports Monitor.net. From the beginning of the 2004 baseball season until the time they switched to being monitored at Trackpicks, Professional Handicapping had a baseball record of 75-77 for a loss of 492.60 units! Overall, Professional Handicapping had a losing baseball record for all of 2004.

Oh, an additional trait of a scam operator is they don't take much consideration into proper money management for sports bettors and thus tell you to "****** the game" or to place very large wagers.

Guilty of plagiarism
Scamdicappers many times will copy other handicapper's analysis of a game, copy parts of an article written by a capper, and some dishonest touts even steal other's picks.(i.e.AAA Sports,lmfao)

Professional Handicapping used to advertise a handicapping book they said they had written about handicapping strategies. At first it was "200 Strategies", then a short time later it was expanded to "500 Strategies". Turns out it was not written by Professional Handicapping but instead was a collection of articles, many copyrighted, by other handicappers that Professional Handicapping did not give credit to. Professional Handicapping is violating copyright laws by stealing copyrighted articles without permission or compensation.


When questioned why some of his writings contained references to other handicappers and services, the story line was changed to "strategies collected in their 14 years of handicapping". Which, incidentally, is another feature of a scamdicapper: Embellish your experience. If Professional Handicapping had been handicapping for that long, that would mean he started around the age of ten.

Change Their Name
Many scamdicappers operate more than one service under different names. Some just change their company names after a year or two. In 2003, Professional Handicapping went under the name of Beat the Books. Apparently they didn't like that or their record wasn't good enough as they changed it to Professional Handicapping. That is a common practice for services that have burnt their customers. As of July, 2005, has just opened a new service called ATS Handicapping.net. Don't be fooled by his b.s., he is NOT getting picks from "wiseguys in Vegas".

Create Ficticious Handicappers
A very common practice of dishonest sports services is to create "new handicappers" with impressive backgrounds. JRTips, USA Cappers, NSAWins, and Charlie's Sports are great at doing this. This is the epitome of scam operations. Professional Handicapping took this low road earlier this year with the addition of "Patrick Flannigan from ******.com", a capper who has been hitting in the "high 63% in the NBA". We checked with people we know at ******.com. They have no Patrick Flannigan who works at ******.com. Professional Handicapping stopped logging their basketball plays at Trackpicks and were no longer monitored anywhere.

Lies About the Money You Could Have Made
Professional Handicapping finished with a 2004 baseball record of 118-64 from June 8 to the end of the season. This is an impressive record, a very nice run. However, in a moneyline sport like baseball, you HAVE to look at the units won, not the overall record or the winning percentage. When you play -200 favorites, you have to hit 67% just to break even. This doesn't stop Professional Handicapping to incorrectly boast that a dime player would have won $54,000 playing their picks last year (118-64=54 net winners).

Either Professional Handicapping is insulting the intelligence of its clientele or they are very, very stupid people themselves. Just because you won 54 more games than you bet in baseball does not mean you won 54 units! You have to figure the vigorish or juice you are paying when you lose. If you win a one-unit play on a -200 favorite, you win one unit. If you lose that same play, you lose two units.

This mistake they made in calculating profits was brought to Professional Handicapping's attention, but they chose to ignore the truth and continue to perpetuate their lie to the date of this article.

In many emails, Professional Handicapping has bragged about their expertise in the NHL. The only stats on their past NHL picking record was at Trackpicks where Professional Handicapping, under their original name of Beat the Books, went 58-72 for a whopping loss of over 111 units!

Create New "Systems", Gimmicks, or claim to have "Inside Information"
One of the funniest things we have ever seen a handicapper brag about is how he paid a connection who worked at the sportsbook at the Stardust in Las Vegas a lot of money for Umpire Information for baseball games that is available at many websites for free! Professional Handicapping is clueless!

When this was brought to Professional Handicapping's attention that they were advertising that they were paying for free information, the very next day Professional Handicapping sent an email out bragging that they now had purchased, for a very large sum, the starting referees information for NBA games from their connection at the Stardust. Professional Handicapping stated that linesmakers have this information before NBA games so they know how to make their totals lines. Professional Handicapping claimed they would be able to hit over 70% on their NBA totals plays now with this exclusive information.

One thing Professional Handicapping doesn't realize is that linesmakers do not get the NBA referee information in advance from anyone. I guarantee that!

Professional Handicapping claims to be able to get inside information on what the "whales are betting" from his ticket writer at the Stardust. He has made claims that these plays are winning anywhere from an upper 60% to upper 80% rate. He started his "Vegas Picks" three weeks after his connection got a job as a rookie ticket writer at the Stardust.

Professional Handicapping continuously claims to have a "new system". One time it was on NBA totals plays, another was based on "public consensus and overnight lines". He will quote ridiculous records to back his claim of outstanding success on his new "system".

Conclusion
We are not saying that Professional Handicapping does not sincerely do their best in their handicapping selections. It is the fact their business practices are dishonest and deceptive which definitely makes them a scamdicapper.

Why spend money with a service that continuously lies? We have heard some people claim to have never received promised money back from Professional Handicapping for poor service, guaranteed plays that lost, or just overall dissatisfaction. .

HIGH PRESSURE TACTICS from Handicapping Services
This is what really ticks us off more than anything. If you ever have called for a free pick from an ad or email, usually you will get a recording asking you to leave your phone number for a callback or a salesman who says he is on the other line and will call you right back if you would just give him your number. If you do talk with somebody, if you hear a number of other voices in the background, you have gotten hold of a boiler room. This is a group of salesmen in a room using deceit, outright lies, fake claims, insults, and anything they can think of to get you to wire them money right now!

A real life example: OTL Sports calls us up. They say we can buy their Investment Club for $699 for a season of NBA basketball. The salesman, Mike, says it would be another $699 for the NCAA. He bragged about their great record in the NBA. I asked where they were monitored. He said at Vegas Insider, which was true, but the record was not what he claimed.

Mike proceeded to brag about his "Lock Club". It was hitting at over 70% the last three years. I asked where it was monitored. He said it wasn't because they didn't want other people to know what teams they were playing. Well, what Mike didn't realize is that one of the most respected monitors, The Sports Monitor of Oklahoma City, does not release what anybody's picks are. It only posts results. Any pro handicapper knows this. In other words, Mike is full of sh*t.

Mike also bragged how OTL Sports had "inside information" from every team in the NFL and also all over the country. He said they talk with Joe Lupo, the Sports Director at the Stardust in Las Vegas, every week. Mike didn't realize, but Joe Lupo has not worked at the Stardust since October of 2002!

I later have a guy, John N., call me and say he is one of the owners of OTL Sports. He is not as high pressure, but he does call and leaves me a voice message saying that "I need to be a man" and call him back. When questioned about why they are using Joe Lupo's name, he says they don't want to use the real names of the inside information people. They are "best friends" of the trainer of the Oakland Raiders. He gives them who is really hurt. "They know people all over the country that they talk to every day."

Sorry, but these guys are full of it. The handicappers behind the service might be trying their best, but they have scum selling their service. And, they lie about how much they charge for the service. They are just as bad as the Jack Price, the Charlie's Sports Handicappers.

I will put up $10,000 against ANY of these scamdicappers over a season of picks. They can name the sport! Winner take all!

I have heard from many people discussing their experiences with scam services.
The following are excerpt from emails I have received:

OTL Sports:
OTL... These guys are definitely your typical boiler room. And I too have talked with that lying thief JOHN... the so-called sales manager or part owner or whatever. You can't get a straight answer out of any of those guys. Their 'Lock Club', well let's just say it's a little vague. I am unfortunately a current client of OTL. I didn't realize what they were until the lies started piling up. I was first told by JOHN that he would give me first time deal for the March Madness lock club of $800. I called back to talk some more and the next guy offered it to me for $1700. After negotiating $400 and them promising to be 75% by the sweet 16 I paid them. After a winning day today I am just now out of the red by $35. After reading your column I am going to cut my losses and quit playing them. The funny thing is...the last few days I have called back and talked with several people there, telling them who I am and that I was calling in for the Lock club selections that I paid for. Guess what? Ever single person that I talked with had a DIFFERENT set of 'Lock Club Plays'. You should have heard John try to back his way out of that one when I confronted him. He basically hung up on me when I asked him how all of his guys have different picks. Pretty big Lock Club huh? The final straw for me was when I called them and confronted them with the fact that I was sent a flyer in the mail saying that they were offering a 'Lock Club' special for all of March Madness for only $199. That's a little different from the $1700 the one guy wanted, huh? When I asked for my $200 back...well, you can guess. They said the more money the client pays the better the picks get! I guess they have about 10 levels of lock club plays.

Along with a great newsletter, I sometimes go through *northcoast phil steele*****(******) I go half with a friend and buy credit on debit card I mainly buy college and pro games of the month for about 12:50 each. Everybody here jokes about his long messages on his comp lines, but you never get a call back for sales or anything. Phil is a true handicapper and not a tout like most of the other guy's. I hope that we could get his plays posted here. I will post them but I only purchase a few games a month.
