Expect a vanilla offense: Said Saban, "Hopefully we can keep the game simple and evaluate the players on their ability to execute what we're asking, not their ability to execute some exotic game plan where there are a lot of opportunities for a lot of errors and mistakes.
In a nutshell Saban in looking for develpement with the result being secondary. I guess we will find out what kind of poker face Saban has.
That is such a generic statement. What coach does exotic things in pre-season? I think his statement could conceivably favor the dolphins since by Saban's own words they won't fall trap to "a lot of opportunities for a lot of errors and mistakes."
I would find it hard to believe that that much money came in on that one statement alone. But obviously a lot of money has come in for whatever reason...
I don't buy it. I'm not biting. His first NFL game with a team with the history of the Dolphins; Ricky Williams coming back; the Dolphins first losing year since 1842? I'm not biting. He wants a "W" if for nothing else to get his team in the right frame of mind even in games that don't count.
There have only been two teams that have won a SB with a losing record in Pre-Season the last 15 or 16 years. Both those teams are excused: The '93 Cowboys and the 2004 Patriots. Saban is sandbagging. He may not do anything exotic, but he wants a WIN.
