Vasquez has an excellent repertoire of pitches, and his fastball has been clocked at 94 mph, but he has a tendency to overthrow, and little command in terms of location. He has an excellent change-up, which is his best pitch, but his curve hangs with great regularity because of poor mechanics. We know that early on in his career he went to the curve far too frequently against lesser competition, and over used his arm, so that once he has 100 - 125 innings under his belt the history has been arm problems. Douglas is a inexperienced, but a very talented young pitcher that Detroit has been anxiously awaitng to climb into a regular role as a stopper from a starting standpoint.
