  • A Drop in Respect for OC Dooley

Just a few minutes ago, I opened up some mail(regular mail) with a ad from freescoreboard.com with their phone number for scores, whic is fine.
However, also enclosed ws a full page from OC Dooley touting a certain Offshore(the name is immaterial), saying how great it is, etc.
I don't know about the rest of you but I personally find it demeaning/offensive to me as a bettor and to OC to send something like this out specifically to get people's attention.
As much as I respect OC Dooley, this type of thing detracts from it and at least makes me suspicious as to what/if he gets anything back in return from this particular Offshore for sending this type of ad out and/or it results in people signing up with them (the Offshore).
I got a similar thing from Royal Sportsbook last October promising me all kinds of free service from NorthCoast if I became a customer of them(Royal).
This type of thing furthers my belief that what I said in my mock thread about The relationship between the Collude with Us Offshore and the Sports Service are not really that far fetched at all.
What do you folks think about this issue?

      You are correct

I did have my own service and I can tell you for sure that these services get cash from the offshore books based on referral losses. They also offer other incentive programs if you are not interested in profiting from client losses.

I did not participate in these programs (was often asked) and I never placed advertisements on my site even though I was offered plenty to do so. To me this is a conflict of interest BIG TIME.

Its totally disgusting;it sort of reminds me of getting an ad in the mail from Walmart telling me there is a good sale going on at Target;its far from a perfect analogy, but most importantly I am very suspicous in that instance as I am in the piece from OC promoting the Offshore.

Most sportsbooks have affiliate programs and you get paid for the people you refer. You can usually sign up based on CPA (Cost per aqusition) or net losses for the lifetime of the player. Most referrals for CPA range from $50-$100 for any new depositer.

Hope this clears some stuff up.

To me no how matter how a sports services tries to spin its affiliation with the offshore, in my mind at least it casts a shadow over the integrity of the entire sports service, and even more when it sends you that garbage in the mail as OC and Royal Sports did with Northcoast's stamp of approval.

ive been saying it all along- people keep shouting "services suck services suck"....yet they keep losing game and making millions? its because these people are marketing geniuses that work both sides of the coin- the gamblers and the casinos. think about it? Big Al mcGordie has been doing this all his life yet his record gets worse every year. Are so naive to believe someone in ANYTHING gets worse and worse with experience? These services know when to win and know when to lose PERIOD. We hate them because they have the industry by the balls. Call them slime balls, but I call them educated pschyologists that know how to run people. And the truth is as funny as it sounds most of these guys are college educated...you don't makemillions being dumb

Weisspalow-Yup. You got it right! Its all about making money for THEM, and every pick they make is in their best interest-whether it is to try to win, have different cappers in the same group give out different sides of the same game, collude with the Offshores for kickbacks, etc.
As a psychiatrist told me many years ago, "Services exist for one reason only:some people will send money." I didn't believe him way back then and thought that these guys could put you on "easy steet."
Looking back over those many years, I can say how wise and prescient his words were and still are.

I have no problem with a service making a buck from sending a customer to a offfshore book. But most of the services need to pick winners for there customers. In thirty years of playing I have had 2 good services and the rest were boiler room operations. I will tell you this most gamblers that depend on service plays are in trouble. Last night on the service post here i did not see 1 service put out the over on the duke /wake forest game. Now i did not see every post but most. I can not understand how the services miss a cakewalk like that game.

I would respect it if a capper like OC were honest and added in the insert he sent me something akin to this:
Folks if you sign up with this Offshore, and play my picks, hopefully you will win.
However, if you don't and also lose with your own picks, I(OC or the capper in question)) at least will make some money in the form of "rebates" from the offshore, which in turn will help to feed my family.
How can you lose? If you win, great, you make some money, and I will get some happy return customers.
If you lose, well at least you will have helped a struggling handicapper and done your financial good deed for the day.

I just got my daily email from OC Dooley with more praise for the sportsboook. Doesn't he realize that the more he does this, the less credible he becomes.
As stated earlier, the only reaction that comes to mind when a capper gives undue praise to a sportsbook is the same one I would have if I received something in the mail from Walmart telling me to shop at target- SUSPICION and QUESTIONABLE MOTIVATION!
