this is interesting guys, because I have heard similar type "bad" things in the past. Some people on this board either buy into the hype or generally believe that godspicks is a good service, but from what I have heard (and now confirmed by your posts) is that everyone should STAY FAR FAR AWAY. Thanks for posting this. PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW

As I said elsewhere, any service like Godspicks which gives a GOY against an undefeated team like Illinois has ZERO credibility in my book.
Yeah, sure they have hot streaks like anyone else, but this utter nonsense that they have been the leader since 1983 is unsubstantiated/unverified bullshit;anyone can say that, but unless you can back it up with verified records, it is just hype and nothing
              more.
I used to post over on their thread at godspicks but don't bother because for the most part the thread is dead, and in any event, I have to come to realize that over time these guys aren't good or bad-just mediocre.
That being said, I still personally find it laughable that ANY service including Godspicks could put out a GOY against an undefeated team at pickem;that is just bad handicapping and goes against all the rules of NOT going against an undefeated team especially when there are no points involved.

Ps perhaps the thread I started about How Services Operate isn't so far fetched.
Maybe Godspicks didn't think MSU would win but had other reasons for the pick;that is not an accusation but just something for you to ponder.

I personally think that many of the so-called Wise Guy sports of Godpicks, Wayne Root, etc. are not based on anything more than simply going against what they feel the public will bet in these games.
Overall it is an ok strategy, but I think those who think that these "wise guy" picks are based on such things as scout's reports, inside information, etc. known only to a select few including the service are living in a fantasy world.
As I infer in my thread about how services operate, they big thing motivating ANY service is to do anything to get you to call and/or signup for the picks.
Yes, some services (a few) make an honest effort to win, but keep in mind that their motivation to win may not be as great as it would be if they didn't have deals/and or receive kickbacks from the Offshores when clients/referrals lose.
I can almost see a situation where it might be in a service's best interest to lose rather than win if it has referred enough people to the Offshore, the former who have been losing with the services picks(and hopfeully with their own picks also).
To change the subject, even though most services don't resort too much to the old tactic of giving one side of a game to some bettors and the other side to some others(since with the advent of the internet and the wide dissemination of information, they know they would get caught quickly),just remember this practice went on for many years with such notables as Jack Price, Stu Feiner, Kevin Duffy, ****** Demarco, etc.
Now many services suchs as Godspicks have multiple cappers making up their group, and many times the different cappers in the group will give out the opposite sides on the same game.
Sure sometimes the cappers disagree legitimately on the game, but be assured that at least some of the time, the service will deliberately have its cappers give out differerent sides on the same game to be sure that at least one of the cappers wins, meaning that they9the group) will at least get some business the next day;this is the updated version of what the cappers like Root and Feiner did previously(giving out two different sides on the same game).
Many of the cappers, such as those in Godspicks, have degrees in business, and "business" is the key word;this implies make money at any cost-hype, spin your record, lie about it either by commission or omission, come up with GOY's even when they are not warranted, make it sound like you have inside info, key injury reports, undefeated system plays, etc when you don't;its the old Machiavellian "the ends justify the means" routine.
When I used to post at godspicks and got into discussions with Godsey or Duffy about their records and advertising techniques, they openly admitted to me that their approach is to try to get the customers to "buy the sizzle"' rather than the steak;at least they were honest about it and it describes their prime motication.
Its akin to a lawyer's philosophy of not worrying about whether his client is really guilty or not;his job is to convince a jury that his client is innocent;its the same thing here with the service-to convice you to shell out money to THEM at any cost.
Some of you may think I have an ax to grind writng all of this, and to an extent you may be right, as I did lose more than win with these guys' picks over the years.
On the other hand, the fact that I did pay for many picks over the years, seeing the so so results and subsequent lies, half truths etc. after the games were over, etc. puts me in a good position to comment on this; more importantly,I dealt with literally thousands of people in my 34 years in my social service job(I retired at the end of 1983), and because of this, I feel I understand human motivation;enough said..
If at least some of the younger people and/or less experienced gamblers read what I say along with that of Coverboy, Spark, Ripple, Kman, etc., perhaps they will at least realize that maybe you are not going to live on "Easy Street" for the rest of your lives if you sign up with these paid services.
