OREGON STATE BEAVERS @ WASHINGTON HUSKIES
SAT JAN 15 @ 10:30 PM EST
RED ZONE SPORTS ON FIRE IN THE FOOTBALL .. 7-1 LAST 8
BANG OUT THE 2 ABSOLUTE BEST BLOW OUT & TOP TOTAL TOPS GOING THIS WEEKEND IN THE NFL!!
This game pits two of the PAC 10 finest with the Huskies coming in with a record of 13-2, marred only by loses to Gonzaga and at UCLA last Saturday. The Beavers of OSU are 10-4 and have beaten that same UCLA squad, though at home, and are undefeated in the PAC 10 Conference. It should be noted that both teams returned all five starters from last year’s clubs, but please note in a very unique situation in the PAC 10 all teams return 80% of their starters from the previous season. The Huskies were ranked anywhere from 11th to 14th in the pre-season polls, and have very little to discourage or prove the prophets wrong. Meanwhile the Beavers are trying to experience their first winning season since 1980, and with the ten wins appear to be well on their way to that goal. The overall edge in talent goes to the boys from Seattle as we rate their backcourt an A+ and their depth far superior to that of Oregon. Still the Beavers hold a slight edge down on the blocks in terms of individual personnel, but Washington will counter with numbers and fouls to give at those positions.
Many people feel that the Huskies will go deep into the NCAA tourney this year, and much of the credit goes to Coach Lorenzo Romar who in three short years has vaulted them into the national Spotlight. No longer are the talented players from the Seattle area going away, but are now choosing to stay and play for WU. If Washington is for real, then this is a must win in terms of PAC 10 standings, since they would still have to go to Corvallis, Oregon and return the favor. Being one game down in the standings, and Arizona, Stanford and the like looming sets the table for a hard fought contest. The Beavers haven’t really been this good since the days of 7-0 Mel Counts who had a few good years in the NBA in the 1980’s. It should be noted that OSU maybe 10-4 SU, but is only 5-6-1 ATS, but is 1-2 ATS as an away dog and 1-4 overall ATS on the road. The Huskies are 13-2 SU, 7-6 ATS, but 5-3 ATS as a home favorite. RED ZONE SPORTS gives the edge to Washington on strength of schedule, (NC ST, Gonzaga, Alabama, Oklahoma & Utah), the quality of which OSU cannot match and the fact this is truly a must win game for this early in the PAC 10 standings.
Take the Huskies lay the small number, cover and win Saturday evening in Washington
