Hope you profited once again from yesterday's FREE NBA play as the Lakers covered the spread vs. the Clippers in the LA bragging rights battle. ...Orlando has matched a season high with wins in its past three games, and is in a very nice groove right now. We like their chances here, as they are an incredible 11-0 SU/10-1 ATS at home vs. opponents concluding 3-game road trips. Only once have they been a home underdog vs. an opponent completing a road trek of 3+ games, and they simply demolished the pointspread by 27 points. Dallas, on the other hand, is 0-3 ATS this season as a road favorite when completing a road swing of at least 3 contests.
The Mavs certainly have hot had much luck in Orlando, as they have lost four straight and 11 of its last 12 on the Magic's home floor. In their last 4 defeats here, Dallas has fallen short of the spread by a halting average of 14 points a game! They are also just 1-7 ATS, including 0-4 on the road, with the over/under line more than 200, and 0-5 ATS as a road favorite off a spread loss on the road. They will have their hands full with an Orlando crew that is rejuvenated and playing with a high level of confidence right now. This game should be tight most of the way, and we like McGrady to find a way to pull this one out for the Magic.

LA LAKERS -9 over LA Clippers
...Obviously there will be a special feel to this game as Bryant tries to surpass Jordan. We expect the entire team to step up their game here also, as Lakers coach Phil Jackson just underwent surgery to remove kidney stones and is likely to miss the first game of his NBA coaching career tonight. This will technically be a home game for the Lakers even though the Clippers also call the Staples Center home, so the crowd will decidedly be for the Lakers. Along with Jackson, Samaki Walker is also doubtful for the Lakers tonight, which is likely the reason for the line dropping from Lakers -10 to -9. Even at -10 we liked the world champs here, as they are 9-2 ATS at home off 2 or more home games, including a perfect 5-0 as a double-digit favorite. At Staples off 2 home wins, the Lakers are also an unblemished 7-0 ATS. As a double-digit home fave off a home win in which they failed to cover as a favorite of 10+ points, they are a strong 6-1 ATS.
The Clippers have faded out of postseason contention and consistently only with their inconsistency. They continually follow up a good performance with a poor showing, and off a single bad outing they can be counted on for at least one more. Off ONE SU/ATS loss, the Clips are a frightening 0-9 ATS, including dropping all 7 such opportunities this season. While they may be focusing on Bryant and keeping him from hitting 40, Shaquille O'Neal should simply have his way, especially with Michael Olowokandi still out for the Clippers. They have other injury concerns as well with guards Keyon Dooling and Cory Maggette questionable and forward Wang Zhizhi resting his ailing back.
The Lakers are on a team mission while #8 is on his personal mission. That should add up to a superior effort here and a double-digit win for the champions.
