Seton Hall is playing some of the best basketball in the Big East as they have won their last 6 games, with 2 of those coming on the road. They now face a Rutgers team who is playing for their post-season lives. The Scarlet Knights are 3-9 in the conference and must improve on that so they won’t be shut out of the conference tournament. Rutgers is 9-5 at home this season which is a disappointment coming off a 15-2 home mark last season. It is still one of the tougher venues in the Big East for a road team to come in and walk out with a win. They do feature a great backcourt of Jerome Coleman and Ricky Shields, who are averaging over 28 points between them. Shields had a horrible game in the first meeting, a 58-53 Seton Hall win. He finished the game with just 4 points on 1-11 shooting. Seton Hall closed the game on a 17-7 run to pull out the come from behind win so Rutgers has some payback in store for their New Jersey foe. The backcourt duo of Coleman and Shields will need to keep Andre Barrett in check. Barrett is the Pirates leading scorer with 18 ppg and has been the team’s go to guy throughout their recent win streak. At home this season, Rutgers is allowing just 64 ppg and are forcing over 20 turnovers per game while committing just 13 themselves. They are also averaging over 10 steals per game while giving it up only 4 times per game. Seton Hall has a tough game on deck as they face Villanova on Thursday, a makeup from the game postponed on February 17th. While this might not be considered a letdown spot for the Pirates, it will be difficult to keep their run going on the always-difficult Big East conference road. Rutgers will get their revenge on Tuesday.
