Insider Edge Sports – Report For Tuesday, November 16, 2004
We stunk up the joint yesterday, most notably being on the wrong side with the Cowboys. It happens but as you can see below, it’s all about long term anyway. We don’t win everyday nor do we claim to. When we lose, we make up for it. We don't run away and hide like the other inferior services after a loss. Tonight we go 2-0.
• NFL is 33-22(60.0%) this season
• NCAA is 57-41 (58.2%) this season
• Game of the Year Releases are 6-0 (100%)

Toronto Raptors at Los Angeles Clippers 10:35 PM ET
Los Angeles Clippers –1 -110 (2 Units)
Toronto has lost two straight and now are 1-3 on the road this season. The Clippers return home after a short but successful east coast trip, finishing 2-1. Their 3 road wins this season are nearly 1/3 of their total from all of last season. Their only home loss came in overtime to the Pistons while their one win was a blowout over Seattle. The Sonics have since won 6 straight so the win over Seattle counts for something. Through seven games, it appears the Clippers' court decisions have improved. Fewer passes are being forced into tight defensive coverage, there is better shot selection, the extra pass is being made and there is better defensive communication. Head coach Mike Dunleavy said a key to improvement is changing the mindset of some younger players, such as third-year forward-center Chris Wilcox. Wilcox's 18.2 points per game scoring average is more productive than expected and he has given the team a scoring option to go with Elton Brand and Corey Maggette. This team has spirit, which Brand attributes to Dunleavy's buoyant personality. Toronto may be 4-3 on the season but this is clearly a team without much unity. Rookie coach Sam Mitchell is unhappy by the continuing poor starts from his starting five, including Vince Carter. Only the solid play of reserves, including Lamond Murray, Morris Peterson and rookie Matt Bonner, have helped Toronto maintain a winning record so far. Carter found himself on the bench for the entire fourth quarter in their last game at Portland. It marked the second time through the first four games of this West Coast road swing for the Raptors that Carter has been relegated to the bench. On the season, Carter is averaging a sub-par 14.3 points a game (his career average is 23.8) with an uncomfortable 38.1 per cent shooting average. In seven games this season, Carter has scored more than 20 points only once.
