Denver –3.5 (2 Units)
Both of these teams come in at 5-7 in the Sun Belt Conference and neither is playing top-notch basketball at the moment. What makes the difference in this game should be the inability of South Alabama to win on the road. They are just 2-9 away from home and only 1-5 away in conference play. Their only other road win came at 5-16 Southern University. Denver started the season strong at 12-6 but then hit a wall losing 7 straight before winning their last game at home against North Texas. The last 5 losses came to the top two teams in each division of the Sun Belt (La-Lafayette twice) who are a combined 33-12 in conference play, so they have at least lost to solid competition at home. The problem for the Jaguars is their defense where they are allowing 49% shooting from the floor and 52% on the road. Denver should take advantage of this as they are averaging nearly 16 more points per game than South Alabama in their last 5 games. The Pioneers defense has been anything but brilliant of late but again that came against the top teams in the conference. While Denver has had their trouble with the better teams, they have taken care of the lower echelon teams and this is where South Alabama falls under. Look for the Pioneers to feed off the North Texas win and take care of business tonight.
