Washington Wizards at Charlotte Bobcats 7:05 PM ET
Washington Wizards –4 –110 (2 Units)
As bad as the Wizards are expected to be this season, they won’t be as bad as the expansion Bobcats. Charlotte begins play with a team that has never played together and without any proven players that can carry this team. They will rely a lot on rookie forward Emeka Okafor and center Primoz Brezec, who led the team in scoring and rebounding during the preseason. Steve Smith and Brevin Knight are the only players who have more than 4 years on NBA experience. Recent acquisition Keith Bogans will begin the season on the IL. Washington played their opener at Memphis without Gilbert Arenas, Larry Hughes and Brendan Haywood who were out due to suspensions. Arenas and Hughes will be back for this game, which will give them some more offense but more importantly, it will give them some fresh legs for this game after playing last night. Washington looked great last night against Memphis and should carry that momentum into this game tonight. There is a greater sense of optimism with the acquisition of Antawn Jamison who with Arenas, combined for 40.5 points per game and led Golden St. to a 17-game improvement in 2003. It will definitely be a long season for the Bobcats so getting small numbers like this need to be taken advantage of.
