Houston Rockets at Detroit Pistons 8:05 PM ET

The defending NBA Champions will enter this season overvalued and that is the case on opening night. Detroit will be getting their rings tonight and their championship banner is being unveiled so there will be plenty of distractions for the Pistons tonight. “I have thought about this for so long,” said Chauncey Billups. Although the core group is still together, the loss of Corliss Williamson, Mehmet Okur and Mike James might be felt early as the new guys blend in. Houston now has an NBA scoring champion along with a top center to provide one of the best inside-outside combos in the league. Steve Francis was traded away mostly because he struggled to mesh his high-flying, open-court style with Ming's methodical low-post game. Along with McGrady, the Rockets got Juwan Howard and Tyronn Lue so there will not be a total lack of chemistry early on in the season.
