  • Friday ReCap and FREE SAT NBA PLAY

ANOTHER winning day for PRO INFO SPORTS NBA clients on Friday and we burnt the books with a 5-1 record. Highlights of yesterday's winners follow along with tonight's FREE SELECTION.

7 STAR SELECTION (5% of Bankroll)

    Golden State +4 over TORONTO

...Toronto will have their hands full this evening. Since the start of the 1999 season, they are 0-6-1 ATS as a favorite playing with revenge against Western Conference teams, while Golden State is 9-3 ATS in the opposing role. As a home favorite off a home win of 3 points or less, the Raptors are 0-7 ATS, losing to the spread by 11 points a game, while Golden State is a perfect 3-0 ATS this season vs. such competition.

While Toronto is obviously playing much better since Vince Carter's return, they aren't yet ready to excel in the role of home favorite. They barely survived against lowly Atlanta, and we note that the league is just 1-7-1 ATS as a home favorite off a home SU win/ATS loss vs. the Hawks. We expect a close game throughout this contest with the Warriors coming away with the SU upset win.

PROJECTED FINAL SCORE: GOLDEN STATE 100 TORONTO 97

ACTUAL FINAL SCORE: GOLDEN STATE 118 TORONTO 114 (OT)!

6 STAR SELECTION (4.75% of Bankroll)

    Orlando +6 over PHILADELPHIA

...The Magic have a weak front line, but against another team that has a poor inside presence, they should be able to stay in this one. The Sixers simply can't or won't play defense like they used to, and they will have a hard time with Tracy McGrady tonight. We also expect T-Mac to get a lot more help from his teammates than he did last night. Philadelphia has performed very poorly at home this season and we are happy to take the generous supply of points here. The 76ers are an ugly 1-10 ATS as a home favorite with the "totals" line under 190 points, losing to the spread by 8 points a game. Off a game in which they allowed an opponent to hit 50% of their shots, they are 2-10 ATS. When at home playing to avenge an earlier home defeat, they are 1-9 ATS.

There certainly is nothing to indicate that Philly is due for a strong performance here, while the Magic should be the more motivated team. We see this game being a back-and-forth affair coming down to the final possession, and very possibly going into overtime.

PROJECTED FINAL SCORE: ORLANDO 100 PHILADELPHIA 99

ACTUAL FINAL SCORE: PHILADELPHIA 99 ORLANDO 98!

4 STAR SELECTION (4.25% of Bankroll)

    NEW JERSEY -11 over Chicago

...This game features the NBA's worst road team vs. the best home team. Chicago has lost seven straight overall and is 2-26 away from home this season. The Bulls are 0-4 ATS, including all 3 chances this season, on the road with a home game following the next day. New Jersey, which is 22-2 at home this season, is 8-1 ATS vs. such company. Since the start of the 2000 season, Chicago is 1-10 ATS on the road off a road loss in a 2-game road swing, while the Nets are 3-0 ATS, including 2-0 this season, in the trend's opposing role. The Bulls have been the perfect sacrificial lambs on the road for opposing teams on Friday nights, going just 1-6 ATS this season, while Jersey is 12-2 ATS since the start of last season in Friday home games, including taking 10 of the last 11.

The Nets, who scored a franchise-low eight points in the first quarter in Memphis before recovering, will be very focused here to have a dominating performance. When starting a homestand of at least 3 games, they are a super 8-0 ATS, beating the spread by a remarkable 13 points a game on average. Since the start of last season, they are also 7-1 ATS off a loss vs. an NBA "CLASS D or F" foe. Jason Kidd and company should put this one out of reach early and coast to a 20+-point win.

PROJECTED FINAL SCORE: NEW JERSEY 108 CHICAGO 85

ACTUAL FINAL SCORE: NEW JERSEY 90 CHICAGO 72!

3 STAR SELECTION (4% of Bankroll)

    MEMPHIS +8½ over Dallas

...We are looking for a close game tonight. The Mavs just are not playing good, consistent basketball. They may have burned themselves out with their jack rabbit start to the season, as they have become increasingly pedestrian as the season has worn on. They have even admitted that they do not "get up" for games against the weaker teams in the league. They will likely take the Grizzlies lightly here and find themselves in real battle. Dallas has now dropped their last 6 games ATS with the "totals" line over 200, while Memphis is 6-1 ATS with such an "over/under" line posted. The Mavericks are 0-4 ATS this season as a road favorite off a road loss, while Memphis is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 opportunities against such opposition this season. While the Mavs have beaten the Grizzlies handily twice this season, we note that Dallas is just 1-5 ATS vs. opponents playing with "double revenge" for double-digit defeats.

Memphis will be pumped for this game and should come in with much added confidence after beating the Nets. The league as a whole is 5-1 ATS as a home underdog after a home dog win vs. New Jersey. The Grizzlies are a super 11-1 ATS when playing off a win that snapped a losing streak of at least 3 games, beating the spread by 9 points a game. They are also 5-1 ATS at home vs. opponents of 2+ road games, and are 7-1 ATS at home off a home win vs. opponents off a road loss. We do think the Mavericks will pull out the win with some clutch play down the stretch, but they won't be able to run away and hide from these Grizzlies tonight.

PROJECTED FINAL SCORE: DALLAS 105 MEMPHIS 100

ACTUAL FINAL SCORE: DALLAS 110 MEMPHIS 103!

2 STAR SELECTION (3.75% of Bankroll)

    Miami +11 over HOUSTON

...The Rockets defeated the Heat in Miami on December 16, 105-100 in overtime, but have had a horrible time at home vs. Miami, losing 5 of 6 SU and ATS. The Heat will be without the services of Eddie Jones tonight, but will likely claw away to keep this one respectable. Since the start of the 1998 season Miami is a perfect 5-0 ATS as a road underdog with 3+ days rest off a home loss.

Houston has been wildly inconsistent this season and there is very good value in fading them as a double-digit favorite. In fact, they are a poor 1-8-1 ATS at home vs. NBA "CLASS D/F" opponents. The Rockets will enjoy several days off following this game before going to Los Angeles for "Yao vs. Shaq II" and could easily take Miami lightly here. Houston is 0-4 ATS as a home favorite before 3+ days rest and a road game, while the Heat are the mirror opposite 4-0 ATS...

PROJECTED FINAL SCORE: HOUSTON 91 MIAMI 83

ACTUAL FINAL SCORE: MIAMI 94 HOUSTON 82!
