Bills @ COLTS
After Indy got thoroughly trashed at home last week, I'll look for them to bounce back here in a big way. A Superbowl contender, there's not much excuse for the beating they took at home last week--much less to the Jets. Bills still a question mark, but I don't think it would matter who the Colts played today...
*COLTS -4
Dolphins @ BUCS
Wannstedt is historically not a winner in pre-season, which might explain why he only gets so far in the playoffs (if that). See Marv Levy.
In contrast, Gruden has been a winner in pre-season everywhere, and the Bucs are no exception as he is 3-1 and 4-1 in his two years with them. With TB coming home off a loss, I like them to bounce back with the win.
Only problem is that this in-state rivalry is traditionally a low-scoring, close game, with four of the last five going UNDER and only 1 being decided by more than a FG (Bucs won by 4).
With the Dolphins coming off a 17-0 loss and now playing in their annual Florida Bowl, plus having a renewed sense of hope with rumors of a Williams return, they may keep it close as usual. Or not.
I do not consider Miami a SB contender. I DO consider the Bucs a POTENTIAL SB contender. Since SB teams win in pre-season, and with both of them sitting at 1-1, I'll give the nod the the Bucs to get the win, especially being at home. However, I prefer a tease on this one...
Lions @ RAVENS
For the first time in his 5-year tenure with the Ravens, Billick had a 1-3 losing year with the Birds. Billick likes to win these games. Coming home @ 1-1 and off a loss, I'll look for the Ravens to get the home win over the Lions who are 2-11 SU on the Road the last 6 Seasons and 0-3 under Mariucci.
Lions are also 1-1, but just like the Miami-Bucs game, I'll give the nod to the home team more likely to make a bowl run. In this case, I think a Ravens cover is likely, but we're looking fill a teaser. Look for the Ravens D to smother the Lions QB's today...
