    PITTSBURGH PIRATES VISIT MILWAUKEE BREWERS

SATURDAY JULY 31 AT 7:05 EST

friday the phillies + 160 over prior.. saturday's winner below

Tonight we have two teams playing to stay out of the NL Central cellar. Brewers lead the last place Buccos by a half game, and stand a distant "sixteen" behind the division leading St. Louis Cardinals. Pirates will send Kip Benson to the mound amid a swirl of trade rumors, and it's possible he may be gone by this date. Benson is 8-8 with a 4.22 ERA in 132 innings of work and a solid 1.32 WHIP. More importantly he has pitched well at late, winning two and losing none in his last five starts while averaging seven innings per outing. Kip seemingly has everything to be a premier pitcher in the big leagues. He possesses a 95 mile an hour fastball, a nice curve, slider and decent changeup. Everyone of these pitches rate above average when he is on. His achilles heel is consistency, and too many of his fastballs find the heart of the plate, and against left hand hitters he has trouble keeping his curve down indicative by the fact they hit thirty some points higher than their right hand counterpart.

Milwaukee will counter with Santos who is 9-5 with a 3.58 ERA, and has held opponents to a .258 batting average. In his last five games he is 2-2, but they have been played against the Cards, Cubs and Reds. Santos has been a nice surprise to complement Ben Sheets, and has only four years of true experience since coming from the Dominican Republic. He possesses an excellent cut fastball, hard overhand slider that tails away from left hand batters who have only hit him for a .222 average. Don't forget the Wilson boys (Jack & Craig) and Jason Kendall are strong left hand hitters for the Pirates. Santos and all Brewer pitcher have suffered with the anemic Milwaukee offense that provides the second lowest runs per game in the whole major leagues.

Gentlemen, RED ZONE SPORTS has made a living taking the underdog and providing nice paydays for our faithful. Tonight we go with the favorite Milwaukee Brewers to score just enough, and Santos to continue to be tough on the boys from the left side of the plate. Milwaukee wins Saturday evening.
