ATLANTA (Thomson) at NY METS (Leiter):
MLB 7:10 PM (EST)
New York’s Al Leiter has been just awesome this season going (6-3) with a 2.24 ERA (best in the league), and is limiting opponents to a .187 batting average. But at home, he has been just ridiculous going (3-0) with a 0.95 ERA – allowing just 4 runs & 25 hits in 38 innings. In fact Leiter has been so solid that he’s held teams to 3 runs or less in 14 of his 16 starts this year. The Mets are also (7-2) in Leiter’s last 9 games.
While Atlanta has been playing better lately winning 14 of their last 19, they’ve won just 2 of John Thomson’s last 8 starts, including a (0-4) record on the road. Thomson’s number on the road overall this season are not very impressive (4-4) with a 4.52 ERA & opponents are batting a hefty .310 against him. Yes, he did beat the Mets in April, but that was a very different lineup.
Go with New York here at home with Leiter on the mound where the team is (5-1) this season.
Best of luck,
-Drew
