Detroit Tigers (Maroth) at Minnesota Twins (Mulholland) 8:10 PM ET
Detroit Tigers (Maroth) +110 (2 Units)
We will not back the 41-year-old Mulholland, as a matter of fact we will fade him in this spot. The veteran southpaw surrendered four runs and five hits over five innings in his last outing Saturday against the Diamondbacks, earning him his first win since Aug. 17 of last season, when he was pitching for Cleveland. He was fortunate to get some run support in that game but he may not get enough here against the tough Tigers offense who lit up the Yankees for 19 runs their last 2 games. As much as Maroth has struggled over his career at the Metrodome, it's not Coors Field. Maroth gave up season-high 12 hits in 5.2 innings at Colorado last Saturday, good for seven Rockies runs. He's 2-5 lifetime at Minnesota despite a decent 4.03 ERA there, including two runs over seven innings in a start last month. That 2-5 record is what will scare the money off him as will his overall road ERA of 5.86. Tucked in there however are 6 quality starts in 11 road outings, including 3 in his last 4.
