Anaheim Angels (Colon) at Pittsburgh Pirates (Benson) 7:05 PM ET

    Over 10 Anaheim Angels/Pittsburgh Pirates +106 (2 Units)

Neither of these starters is pitching well and the bats should be able to get enough on the board for this one to go over rather easily. Bartolo Colon continues to confound the Angels with his prolonged pitching slump. Despite taking another loss in his last outing, the Angels are convinced that mechanical changes Colon has made are starting to take effect. We aren’t convinced just yet however. He has been simply awful, giving up 4 or more runs in each of his last 6 starts (9.30 ERA during that span). The surprising thing is that Anaheim has been able to pull out two of those games thanks to an offense that put up 5 or more runs during 4 of those 6 starts. They are averaging 5.6 rpg in all of Colon’s starts this season. The Angels have gone over in 18 of their 29 road games this season. Kris Benson has been effective through six innings before breaking down in the seventh during each of his previous two starts, both losses. He seems to be tiring late but Anaheim has the ability to get to him earlier here. The Angels are hitting .283 against righties this season and they are 2nd in the American League with a .281 road batting average. Anaheim is third in the league in road runs with 166 scored this season. Benson has not been effective at home as he is 0-2 with a 7.48 ERA in four home starts this season. He has not won at PNC Park since May 10, 2003.
