LIVAN HERNANDEZ (R) vs. RYAN FRANKLIN (R). Montreal sweeps the Royals in the Thursday double header and now make the trip out west for the series with the Mariners. The always tough Hernandez will go for Montreal but he has been struggling a little over his last three starts with an ERA of 4.98 and a whip 1.246 up from his season totals of a 3.42 ERA and Whip of 1.172. (WHIP = Walks,Hits per Innings Pitched). Franklin comes in throwing his best games at home with an ERA of 3.08 and a Whip of 1.329 with only 4 of his 11 starts coming at Safeco Field. These numbers at home are much better than his season stats of 4.61 ERA and Whip of 1.376. Beyond the pitching match-up, I also like this system play as it pertains to this game. Play Against - All underdogs with a money line of +100 to +150 (MONTREAL) - after 2 straight wins by 4 runs or more against opponent after a combined score of 4 runs or less. (24-2 over the last 5 seasons.) (92.3%, +21.6 units.). The average money line posted in these games was: Team favored with a money line of: -120. The average score in these games was: Team 5, Opponent 3.1 (Average run differential = +1.9). The situation's record this season is: (1-0, +1 units). Over the last 3 seasons the situation's record is: (9-0, +9 units). Since 1997 the situation's record is: (29-8, +18.6 units). I also like this trend as Montreal will not get any cheap runs vs the Mariners. MONTREAL is 1-11 (-9.6 Units) against the money line in road games vs. good fielding teams - averaging <=0.6 errors/game this season. The average score was MONTREAL 3.3, OPPONENT 5.3. The Mariners have been stranding a lot of runners and I am looking for them to break out a little in this series as they are getting their regular line-up back for the second consecutive series.
