The Eagles come in a disappointing 2-6 in conference play but do sport a solid 7-3 record at home (2-2 vs. MAC teams). They welcome a Marshall team that has lost 5 of their last 6 games, their only win coming at home to Buffalo. They are also 1-5 in their last 6 road games with their only win coming once against Buffalo. Of their last three wins, two have come against 3-14 Buffalo and overall, their 9 wins are against teams that are a combined 65-98 (.398). Eastern Michigan will have a big advantage on the boards as they are out rebounding opponents by nearly 6 per game at home while the Thundering Herd are allowing nearly 6 more rebounds per game on the road. Looking at recent common opponents between these two teams, the Eagles have clearly faired better. Marshall lost at Ball St. by 21 while Eastern Michigan lost to Ball St. by 1 at home. Marshall lost at Kent by 13 while Eastern Michigan lost at Kent by 3. Marshall lost to Central Michigan at home by 3 while Eastern Michigan defeated Central Michigan at home by 16. While looking at common opponents can be misleading at times due to different situations that go into these games, they are still hard not to notice. The Thundering Herd, who started off a strong 8-3, are now in a tailspin and find themselves favored on the road. Wrong team is definitely favored here and we will take a shot with the home dog here.
