Highlights of Wednesday's winners on a 4-2 showing follow along with tonight's TRENDS & OPINIONS -

6 STAR SELECTION (4.75% of Bankroll)

    Chicago +6½ over LA CLIPPERS

...The Clippers appear to have slipped into yet another funk, dropping their last three contests and six of their last eight overall. While some of the games were close losses against good competition, their performance in Cleveland was clearly lacking. Now, they'll be facing a Bulls team playing with confidence off a perfect 2-game homestand and determined to not fall back into their road doldrums. LA is a poor 2-9-1 ATS as a favorite off a SU loss, while Chicago is 5-0 ATS in the opposing role. As a fave off a loss as a favorite, LA is 0-4-1 ATS this season, while the Bulls are 3-1 ATS vs. such opponents. We also note that the league, since the start of last season, is 0-5 ATS as a home favorite off a road loss as a favorite in Cleveland...

PROJECTED FINAL SCORE: CHICAGO 95 LA CLIPPERS 93

ACTUAL FINAL SCORE: LA CLIPPERS 77 CHICAGO 75

4 STAR SELECTION (4.25% of Bankroll)

    New York +3 over MIAMI

...Despite their poor start, New York is actually thinking playoffs, and we expect a strong performance from them here, at a site where they have already won a game this season. The Knicks are a nifty 13-4 ATS in their last 17 games, while the Heat have gone cold, covering in only 2 of their last 13 outings. New York is 6-1-1 ATS as a road dog vs. a foe coming off 2 or more defeats.

Miami is 2-7 ATS, including an 0-3 run, at home off a home loss when playing an opponent off a home victory. In the finale of a homestand of at least 3 games, the Heat are just 2-8 ATS. Off 2 SU/ATS losses, they are a pathetic 2-11 ATS. This will likely be a typical Knicks/Heat scrum, going down to the final minutes...

PROJECTED FINAL SCORE: NEW YORK 91 MIAMI 88

ACTUAL FINAL SCORE: MIAMI 82 NEW YORK 80

3 STAR SELECTION (4% of Bankroll)

    NEW JERSEY -7 over Washington

...The Nets have dominated this series, winning five consecutive SU/ATS vs. the Wizards, and crushing the spread by 12 points a game on average. New Jersey has also won the last five home matchups against Washington. Look for Jason Kidd and company to have a big outing here to re-establish themselves against the East off their journey West. In conference games this season the Nets are 17-8 ATS, while the Wiz are only 12-18 ATS vs. the East. When coming off 3 games in which their turnover total increased in each game, Jersey has responded very strongly, going a commanding 16-2 ATS.

Michael Jordan and the Wizards have been up and down all season. As a road dog off a home win, they are just 2-8 ATS in their last 10 chances, while the Nets are 11-3 ATS hosting such opponents. Washington is also an ugly 2-14 ATS on the road off a home win that snapped a losing streak of at least 3 games. Despite the fact that they have already lost to New Jersey twice this season, we don't see them in a strong "revenge" situation here, as they are 0-4 ATS when playing to avenge 2 losses vs. an opponent that held them to below 40% shooting from the field in both games. Look for the Wizards to be competitive for a half, but the smothering defense of the Nets should simply be too much for Washington to cope with for 48 minutes, as they have the wheels come off in the 4th quarter.

PROJECTED FINAL SCORE: NEW JERSEY 98 WASHINGTON 83

ACTUAL FINAL SCORE: NEW JERSEY 86 WASHINGTON 78

2 STAR SELECTION (3.75% of Bankroll)

    UTAH -4 over Portland

...Utah head coach Jerry Sloan was thrown out of last night's game in the quarter for pushing official Courtney Kirkland in the chest. Sloan may face further penalty from the league, but this will only likely serve to rally the team around him. Many of the Jazz players defended Sloan's actions and we expect them to come out playing hard for him tonight as the momentum from the win in Sacramento carries over. In fact, the Jazz are an incredible 11-1 ATS at home without rest vs. an equally unrested opponent. Portland is the polar opposite in this role, going 0-10 ATS since the start of last season when both they and their opponent are playing without rest. In the thin Utah air, this will be a decidedly big advantage for the Jazz tonight.

We also note that while the TrailBlazers beat the Jazz in Portland earlier this year, they are a poor 3-11-1 ATS vs. foes playing with revenge. Utah is 5-0-1 ATS when returning home off a double-digit road victory, and none is bigger than beating the Kings on their home court. The Blazers may keep this one close for a half, but their tired legs are likely to give up the ghost down the stretch.

PROJECTED FINAL SCORE: UTAH 98 PORTLAND 90

ACTUAL FINAL SCORE: UTAH 95 PORTLAND 71
