Cal-Irvine –4.5
The Anteaters begin an all-important 4-game homestand as they find themselves ½ game out of first place in the Big West Conference and tied with Cal-Santa Barbara. They are a perfect 5-0 at home while the Gauchos are only 1-5 on the road with their only win coming at Idaho. The next 4 games for Irvine are all winnable and they will need them all setting up a rematch with first place Utah St. in their next trip on the road. The Anteaters are shooting over 50% at home while scoring over 75 ppg. Santa Barbara is scoring only 61 ppg on the road while allowing over 67 ppg. Irvine also has a decisive advantage at the free throw line 68%-57%. Defensively they are forcing 16 turnovers per game at home while allowing fewer than 8 assists per game for a very healthy .48 assist/turnover ratio. The Anteaters also have some revenge in this game as they were ousted by Santa Barbara in the second round of the Big West tournament keeping them from a possible NCAA tournament bid. Look for Irvine to protect their home court with a comfortable win knowing how important this stretch of games is.
