Insider Edge Sports – Report For Tuesday, April 20, 2004

We finish 1-2 on Monday, dropping 2.5 units but we still have not had back-to-back losing days this month so Tuesday should be a big night. We have 4 baseball plays along with an NBA Playoff release. Included in this is our National League Game of the Week. The first game goes off at 7:10 pm EST tonight. As always, the entire card is guaranteed.

#1 Documented in NCAA Hoops! We ended the season +36 units, finishing 1st at Wisetracking and we would have been first at Procappers if unit values were used, since all games are counted as just one unit there. Overall, a great season.

Free Service Play For Tuesday, April 20, 2004

St. Louis Cardinals (Suppan) at Houston Astros (Miller) 8:05 pm EST

    Houston (Miller) –1.5 +112 (2 Units)

Wade Miller looks to be back in top form after nagging injuries made for a disappointing 2003 season. After a 15-4 2002, he fell to 14-13 because he wasn’t very healthy for the first part of the season. He did finish strong however and that has carried into this season. Over his final 14 starts of the year in 2003, he was 9-4 and allowed four or more earned runs only twice while pitching six or more innings 10 times. This season, he has allowed only 6 hits in his 13 innings of work. He held the Cardinals to 0 runs and only 2 hits over 7 innings in his last start. He is 8-3 in 15 career starts against St. Louis with a 3.06 ERA and 1.01 WHIP. In 157 at bats, current Cardinals are hitting only .185 against Miller. Jeff Suppan was on the bad luck end in his last start against Houston, a 5-3 loss. He pitched well but the bullpen allowed 3 runs in the final two innings and he was tagged with the loss since St. Louis could score for him. He is now 1-3 in 5 starts against Houston with a 4.86 ERA and 1.41 WHIP. He was roughed up in his lone start at Minute Maid Park last season. Houston has won 5 of the last 6 meetings at home and they have won 9 of the last 12 meetings overall.
