Phoenix Suns at Cleveland Cavaliers 7:00 pm EST

    Phoenix +8 (2 Units)

Cleveland has seemed to come back down to earth somewhat, losing their last 2 games at home by an average of 14.5 ppg. They had ripped off 7 straight wins prior to that to get themselves into the playoff race where they are currently the 8th place team in the Eastern Conference and fighting to hang on with 2 teams just 1 game out. There is value in this line because of that. Phoenix is certainly in the midst of a down year but this is a team that hasn’t quit. They have lost 7 of 12 games but the Clippers and the Sonics are the only teams they have played in this stretch that are not going to the playoffs. The Suns are coming off a win at home against the Bucks, scoring the most points they have all season. But it was the play of Antonio McDyess that even overshadowed that. McDyess had the most minutes (26), points (eight) and rebounds (seven) he has had since rejoining Phoenix. "I thought he had a little pop in his body," Suns coach Mike D'Antoni said. "That's important to him, to us and for the league. He's a great guy. Don't want to lose him. I was real happy for him. I thought he played really well. As we go forward, if he can continue his progress along with the young guys, then definitely it'll be successful for the last 12 games." The emergence of Jeff McInnis has been the turning point of the Cavs season. They are 17-8 since he took over the point guard duties, the third-best mark in the league. They are scoring more, passing more and turning the ball over less. But the most dramatic evidence of their improvement comes in their position in the Eastern Conference. They were 11th before obtaining McInnis; they're eighth now. Unfortunately for Cleveland, he has missed the last 2 games, both losses, and he is expected to miss this one as well. "We get more transition buckets with Jeff in the game because he pushes it better," Cavs forward Carlos Boozer said. "We don't have as many turnovers with him on the court…we definitely miss Jeff." They will miss him once again as Phoenix keeps this game close.
