NBA - LA Lakers (+3) over Minnesota Timberwolves
The red-hot Lakers head into Minnesota Friday night with an 11-3 mark since the break. Their most recent victory came on Wednesday in Boston by a score of 117-109. Kobe Bryant made a quick return from his most recent shoulder injury and helped LA's cause with 18 points and 10 assists in a surprise start. Shaq led the Lakers in this one with 28 points and 17 rebounds. They are rapidly gaining momentum in a bid to catch the first-place Kings.
The Timberwolves have defeated LA twice already this season. However, this Laker team that will take the floor at Target Center on Friday is a different ballclub. They have been rejuvinated in the second half of the season and look like the team everyone expected them to be back in October.
Minnesota allows 89 points per game this season but the Lakers offense should pass that mark substantially in this matchup, especially with Bryant's return to the rotation. The Lakers offense is averaging a mammoth 98 ppg ratio on the road, the 3rd highest mark in the NBA. The Timberwolves have lost 3 out of their last 4 against the spread and may have a hard time pulling off a victory. This should be a very exciting, high energy matchup that will remain close down to the very end.
